So I washed my 2018 JLUR today and noticed the rear driver side tail light was loose. A quick googlefoo and found out how to remove it. Popped out the little cover near the roll bar and went to tighten the torx plastic keeper that holds the light in place. It was tight. So I removed it and pulled the light out and this is what I found! The factory tried to use a glue gun or epoxy to fix the broke light mount. Cheap bastards!

I can tell you 100% that this was not a factory build issue. There is no glue of that sort on the assembly line what so ever! Not doubting you, but that’s not an FCA problem.

Did you have a Rubicon? If so, this is likely the dealer's work. All Rubicon's fuel doors are installed by dealer and they need to pop the driver tail light out.

Then who would have done it? It has been in the shop once last month for software updates. Nothing was done in the rear so who?

That is not a line production issue. Once the line is in motion, it does not stop unless there is an emergency. The vehicle spends just enough time moving through each station to have the parts installed.

In other words the tech may have had 3 to 5 minutes to install the light before the next Jeep is in his or her station. There is no way they would have time to do what is in the picture.

If the light were broken during assembly, the assembly process would continue and the repair would be made at the end of the line or at the yard.

The dealer or the delivery driver broke that light and tried to half ass fix it.
