Facelift JL (2024+) revised dashboard tray

I have some questions regarding this photo.

What is going on with the center ribbed section? This was previously a tray and now it doesn't seem to serve any function. I did figure out that there are mounting points under the rubber pads on the left and right.

While we're looking, what is the round piece in front of the windshield for? Light sensor?

Lastly, is that black glossy piece of trim just there to divide the dash trim so it's not one big piece?

no function that I can tell for the ribbed section. the little black piece just divides the dash and the little round piece is light sensor. Does make for easy phone holder mounts with the predrilled/tapped nutserts.

if you look at Dirt Road Cred dash removal YouTube video you will find it is once piece glued together in the middle. He recommends to be very careful so as not to break it if you remove the trim piece.

Well, that was interesting. That black piece connects the two trim sections together. As for the ribbed center section, the video shows that the entire tray is just one piece. Leaves me with no idea why they didn't make it a tray.
