Is it worth losing the two extra air vents on the dashboard just to have a giant touchscreen in their place?
I hear people talking about "a real Jeep", but some of the new designs seem to be ruining the icon

I think the cloth dash panels are worse than the change in air-vents for a vehicle designed for off-roading with the top and doors off.

But, it’s not me that has to clean them and it does nothing to limit its capabilities on the trail, so as to watering down an Icon, I think it’s more of a pain in the butt addition to an icon.

I like the round vents. I can say I love the new infotainment systems. The round vents are not what makes a Jeep a Jeep, in my opinion. After almost a year I don't even notice the difference. I have had many Jeep Wranglers over the years

with horizontal vents.

I strongly prefer the round vents. They just work better than rectangular ones because they’re so adjustable. Not a huge fan of the new dash, but it wouldn’t be a deal killer at all.
But you don't lose the two center vents. They're below the screen. And they're horizontal... as were the center stack vents on the TJ.

What was ruined, exactly?
didn't know the a/c vents were below the touch screen. That's sounds like a good way to keep that movie theatre sized screen from getting too hot. Maybe soon they can squeeze a little microwave oven in the dashboard too. Gotta give the people what they want.

Extremely subjective question.

Extremely subjective answer: Yes, absolutely.

The round vents are much better and look nicer too. The rectangle ones don't blow as much and killed the look. The new screen has an odd shape and heats up like crazy. Jeep is killing what the wrangler should be by trying to making it too teched out. That's what Range and G wagons are for.

My CJ-7 didn't have the "awesome" HVAC vents that my LJ has. Things change, they're still Jeeps, so far...

Retired and loving it!
I ike the large touchscreen in our '23 JL but I do find it ironic that in many or most states a driver can be cited for simply touching a cell phone but not the giant touchscreen. The steering wheel controls can control many, but not all functions.

It looks out of place the new screen, I like the way Stinger incorporated a large screen with the round vents. Jeep should have followed their lead!

The new screen has an odd shape and heats up like crazy.
Is that a consequence of it simply being turned on, or is it due to the screen's higher placement exposing it to heat being transmitted through the windscreen glass? Just curious.

So many touchscreens now integrate HVAC controls, for example, that drivers are compelled to use them as a matter of course. While I bow to no one in my disdain for distracted driving, citing a driver for interacting at all with such screens shouldn't occur.

Sure, I'd like to see a return to less distracting analog-style radio and HVAC controls (buttons & knobs), but this is how it is and we just have to deal.

Zero issues with ability of the vents in the 2024 to keep things cool in the Arizona heat. Waited for the 2024 specifically for the larger screen. If you don’t want new tech go buy something old. I don’t understand why we have a bunch of people who come here and complain about the evolution of vehicles. There are plenty of dumb vehicles out there. Go buy one if that new tech scares you or seems worthless.

In strictly comparing the functionality of the air events of our MY22 Rubicon XR and our MY24 Rubicon X I’m going with the round vents in the MY22. My experience is they move and direct the AC better. The ethics don’t bother me either way. The big screen is nice but the screen on my MY22 is fine.

What pisses me off is on the power seats not having memory buttons or having it connected to the key FOB. It makes the manual seats way more easier to adjust between drivers.

This use case is available for purchase, used. What prevents you from going back to that? Wheeled in plenty of dumb vehicles that did just as well on the trail as the new ones. What functional needs do the vehicles with less distraction not provide that requires the need of a new vehicle with newfangled distractions?
