Extended Wrangler body on Gladiator Wheelbase?

I'm sure it's been discussed, wasn't sure how to search it haha. But I had an idea, what about a Wrangler with an extended cargo area on a Gladiator wheelbase? Would have H1 Wagon kind of proportions. I really like the big BOF SUV practicality over a pickup, would be the best of both worlds to have a bit more space in the back of the JL with full capability.

That’s pretty sick! I like that! Take that extra section off the roof and that’s exactly what I was thinking.

I wish they made the JLU platform in 2 door.

It’s a similar in size to the Toyota Land Cruiser Trooper Carrier or “Troopy”.

Honest question, but why? It seems like you combine the disadvantages of the 2 door and the disadvantages of the 4 door. I’m not really seeing any advantages unless it’s purely for looks?

Jeep has been toying with the idea of a longer Wrangler since Marchionne mandated Jeep to “3-row-ize” everything in its lineup.

Adding a third row is a cheap and lazy way of growing sales without having to do much.

That’s how we got Wagoneer, Grand Cherokee L, and there’s supposed to be a 3-row Cherokee replacement in the works, too.

Personally, I don’t care for a 3-row Wrangler. It would be the antithesis of a fun, adventurous, maneuverable off-roader and would continue herding Wrangler out of the trails and towards the mall parking lots.

The next logical step for such a long Wrangler with room for seven would be swapping the front solid axle to IFS.

That will be the day I stop buying Wranglers.

Fully agree. If I want a battleship size 4wd I’ll just buy a Suburban.
