Soooo.... there is more to e-torque than just ESS. And the e-torque system is not a traditional ESS system. ESS would be hard to argue in a lawsuit where e-torque is in play. You can disable it, so there is that augment as well, although you have to do it each time you start. For those unfamiliar, here is a description of e-torque as it applies to a Jeep.

"Jeep Wrangler, for instance, offers eTorque with both the turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder and 3.6-liter V6 engines. This mild hybrid system replaces the traditional alternator with a belt-driven motor-generator unit, providing 48-volt current to a 430 watt-hour lithium-ion battery pack.

Additionally, it includes a 3-kilowatt DC-to-DC converter for powering 12-volt vehicle accessories. The eTorque system in Jeep vehicles captures energy during deceleration and braking through brake regeneration, aiding fuel efficiency and drivability.

The air-cooled battery pack is compact and strategically mounted to optimize performance. With six modes of operation, eTorque improves fuel economy, enhances towing/hauling capabilities, and reduces noise, vibration, and harshness during gear changes and acceleration. Additionally, it provides up to 90 lb.-ft. of torque for quick engine restarts, contributing to overall drivability and efficiency."

So, for those e-torque owners, that is why the JL seems snappy when you accelerate from a stop, it's that extra 90 lb. -ft of torque kicking it, even with the ESS disabled.
E-Torque was quite literally designed because the standard ESS is complete dogshit. It was then refined further with the 4XE system.

That's why E-Torque ESS feels so smooth. It was designed from the ground up to address this singular concern.

Basic issue, valvetrain design or manufacture, like hoping a rocker that rubs works for 100,000 miles.

Still waiting for the roller rocker mod.

Human beings are creatures of habit. Establish it and move on. There is a button that allows you to turn it off for those who cant stand or don't believe in it.

And if I have to guess, vast majority of people here have Tazer or something similar that can disable the ESS. I did that and never have to cry about it online.

For my daily, I established the habit once I start the engine, I hit 3 different buttons that are right next to each other before I buckle up and put in gear: ESS off, parking brake off, and auto hold on. Its not that hard.

Edit: I am not a fan of the ESS, but I have to admit it works better on manual cars. Both my vehicles' ESS work the same way, even if you only set your foot on the clutch without pressing it, the system wont work. It gives you a lot more control when to allow the engine to shut off. For restarting, I can clutch in 2 seconds before I need to go, let the engine establishes oil pressure before take off.
With that said, most of the time i turn it off.

Here's a link to the action against Honda: https://lemonlawexperts.com/honda-idle-stop-class-action-lawsuit/

Litigation issues:
d) Additional complexity leading to unsafe emotional anger/anguish and increasing fatigue for operators;
Yes, these criminals in the government destroyed my life. I developed anger issues because of the stop/start thingy. My girlfriend left me, and then I got fired from my job. I have been in emotional agony and I'm on antidepressants now. They have to pay for my pain and suffering.

I got $12.37 in an Allstate class action lawsuit I didn’t know I was a part of

Yeah, same here. I didn't agree to enter into any suit against Allstate, but iirc I still received two years of free credit monitoring that I didn't use. Not sure if I got a payment, but I honestly don't even remember what the whole issue was anyway.

In hindsight, they're a scumbag company and likely deserved whatever trouble they got. I've never spent more money over the years with a single business that does nothing but constantly raise prices and shit on their customers. Today I'd gladly take a single dollar from them only if it meant they'd have one less dollar to their name.

Free credit monitoring is usually the result of a data breach where your personal info got exposed, not a class action lawsuit.

But what about some people's thingies that have shrunk due to the usage of antidepressants? Their lives have been destroyed by the government.

In my case it was alleged they were charging slightly higher costs to people with higher incomes and less to others for the exact same coverage. We dropped them shortly after that. They raised our rates several times without notifying us in advance and although all insurance costs in CA were rising at ridiculous rates it felt deceitful that they were doing it without notifying us.

Not exactly. Free credit monitoring paid for by the defendant can be ordered by the court settling a class-action suit. This is most commonly due to a data breach, but afaik can also apply to instances where a customer's personal information has been mishandled in other ways (sharing your data with a 3rd-party without consent/notification/opt-out).

Never used it, but I still have the email from the Yahoo class-action suit that provided free credit monitoring, which was issued to all plaintiffs as part of the court-ordered settlement. Same thing with the Equifax breach, but they also offered a similar solution on their own prior to the lawsuit (with some glaring stipulations iirc).

I'm sure there's a small handful of outstanding companies that proactively issue credit monitoring to effected customers immediately after such incidents, but quite often many will do nothing until a class-action settlement is reached and they're actually ordered to do so.

Legal suits have their place, but jumping on the bandwagon b/c butthurt about stop-start is a little ridiculous, IMO.

Now, a class action for Pentastar failed heads and cams?
