And the 392 doesn't count, it can only be had in school bus form, so it's not even available in an actual Jeep, AND you have to factor in the cost of an Atlas for when the stupid clutches blow out in the tcase.
Speaking of that, does anyone know how the 4h auto transfer case works? More specifically, if you only use the part time and don't use the auto does it still utilize the clutches?

I think it was alphawhateverthefuckhisnameis educated me that it does, but when I was shopping the dealer told me it was not and that included a service manager. I do believe the dealer blew smoke up my butt.

Good to know. Looks like a normal Rubicon transfer case will make it to the spare parts wish list.

Yes everything goes through the clutch packs no matter what. It just locks the clutch packs together rather than letting them slip in 4auto

Thanks, I guess that's better than letting them slip 🤷‍♂️ . Other than gas mileage, I can't see any reason for the Auto option.

The idea is in slippery conditions it works as awd and sends power to the wheels with the most grip rather than just spinning. For general driving in mixed conditions its "better" because it will adapt to the road surface. For wheeling its bad because its weaker.

Move to Maryland and it'll make sense. Roads can go from dry to ice/snow without notice. Also where I live you can run into overflowing creeks, ponds, rivers, etc before, during and after thunderstorms. We also get scattered showers that dampen roads, which can be worse than snow.

In other words it makes up for poor situational awareness and lack of driving skill.

Bring that little turdbox round here and I'll let you drive down just one particular road and after we dig you and what's left of your Jeep out of the snowy field, I'll personally drive you to the hospital in the back of my bus so you can get a seatectomy to remove your seat from your ass after the massive sucker pucker from hitting the snowy curves.

Last year, I actually took a guy to a hospital in the back of my Jeep. That idiot got ran over by his own Jeep and broke his femur.
