Still serving, me too. I just got back from a day of volunteer work at the Coronado Amphib base working with Lt Commander Chuck, the founder of SEAL Team 3 back in the day, or so he says!
That’s pretty awesome and sounds like a good time to me.

Team 3 is where the “Punisher’s” is from.

I haven’t spent any time on the West coast in a quite a long time. I was in Hawaii and now I’m out of Little Creek.

We have a work party the third Saturday of each month so next month I'll have to ask him if he had anything to do with commandeering the Punisher insignia from Marvel! Back when I was stationed at the amphib base, there were only SEAL Team One and Two in existence, with one on the west coast at Coronado and two at Little Creek. They sure have multiplied since then!

Does anyone else experience this overwhelming feeling of joy when cruising by yourself, tunes cranked up, doors off, and you're just f'n happy?

I have issues with PTSD and emotional control at times and I have noticed there a few things that actually overwhelm those responses.

Watching my kid play will do it. Rolling by myself in the Jeep brings me peace and a similar feeling. Same with working in the garage and hanging with my wife when we're in tune with each other.

Thought I'd write this down while I was thinking about it because I know others struggle with things, too, and if community brings that out for you, too, just know it's normal; embrace it.

We lost 43 Blackwater brothers in combat and over a 100 to illness, suicide, etc... since coming home.

Anyway, love the emotional response something like this brings you. Means you're still in there.

I have a Gear Up I drive and it absolutely provides that feeling. Getting out where no one expects the guy in the motorcycle jacket to be able to carry everything in the cart is fantastic at producing a mental Told you so. 😁

We had a 2006 Tourist for many years - loved the looks on peoples' faces when we stuffed a ton of groceries into the hack! Or the looks we got when we flew the chair down the street!

As an American who joined the army in 2000, I wish more americans knew that we are a proxy military for netanyahu. He owns the US military and cia.

Driving jeeps has always been a happy place for me.
I didn't serve in the military, didn't finish school, I've always chosen to do things the hard way for some reason. (ADHD)
jeeps and Harleys, long distance Mt bike travels have helped me figure out how to be grounded and available for my family.
They lovingly call my current jeep precious. It's my dream vehicle a diesel Rubicon!
So much fun!

Tooling around in my JL is always invigorating and therapeutic. I have the rear window decal that says so …

Cool! I have a ‘grayed-out’ JL, so my decals are black/gray and don’t show up much to the casual looker. A brighter color will get your message out loud and clear. Love spending open air time here in Michigan. Wish we had warm weather for more months, but JOURNEY and I make the most out of all 4 seasons

When you eat corn normally it goes through your system fast but the way you seem to ingest it, it would block you up. 💩🥵

I also have issues with both C-PTSD from childhood and PTSD, and yes, I feel exactly the way you do. I have not seen combat, but my PTSD comes from working at the World Financial Center on 9/11. I happened to have the day off and lived across the river in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

About 15 years ago, I was going through a really hard time and my therapist asked me what was the most important item in my life. My answer was "my Jeep, because it represents the freedom to go anywhere at any time".

I was in Manhattan that day, in fact looked at my watch at 8:48 from the Jersey side on the Lincoln Tunnel heading into the tunnel into Manhattan. Seen small black smoke arising out of the North tower as I was going around the helix, the guy sitting in the front row seen it as well and started to make some phone calls. Only when now in Manhattan crossing 34 street did we realize what was happening.
Spent the day parked on 57th street watching what was going on downtown in a tiny barber shop with 30 people watching a 11 inch barber shops TV.
Did'nt get out of NYC till 8pm when they opened the Manhattan Bridge for us only to return to our depots.
The following days were surreal, coming out of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel seeing smashed FDNY trucks piled ten high on top of each other like Tonka toys. The tunnel smelled like something i've never smelt before....for weeks...
When you used to come out of the BBT you would see the Twin Towers as soon as you exited, not seeing them and only the lower part still standing was a sight I will not forget.

Yes, I went out on the pier in Bay Ridge that afternoon and I remember the smell in the air. On that day, the world changed.

I haven't been back since I left in 2002 and I plan never to go back again.

The city has changed alot since then, Hudson Yards on the West side and a slew on new towers on 57 th street coining the term billionares row. After 9/11 it was feared we would not see any more skyscrapers in NYC but in fact since 2011 a huge amount have been built.
The skyline is nothing like it was even twenty years ago.
Here is a video of what is in place of ground zero years after.
