For those wanting to secure the lever, you could fabricate a small bracket to block movement, and secure it to the bumper by drilling and tapping the bumper and fasten with Torx security screws. The ones with the little protrusion in the center that requires the matching bit.

I’m in the habit of walking full circle around a parked vehicle when I return, to inspect for door dings, bottles under tires, or whatnot. Thanks to you guys I’ll add wench inspection to the list.

I feel like everyone talking this out and discussing risk and the likelihood of theft is going to make me change my mind about waiting to get a winch.

This forum is an expensive place...
Well, that didn’t take me long. I changed my mind!

i also typically approach my vehicles with a walk-around; amazing the number of times this has revealed something stuck in a tire.

but i don't wait to approach a vehicle to do Wench Inspection; you gotta' do that whenever the opportunity presents itself.

I didn't see it mentioned - this is specifically why I bought a Zeon Platinum, it has no clutch lever. I live in the land of homeless zombies that steal anything that glitters even if it's bolted down. In a stock steel bumper, a flatlink and a zeon platinum are so tight and tucked up in the bumper that it's not much of a theft risk.

The complex electronics and remote control that always drains its batteries even when powered off would make me not recommend a platinum to anyone that isn't specifically avoiding this situation, though.

But I was just thinking the other day, the gear lever and that pretty red flat link i just installed are an attractive nuisance. I'm kicking myself for not getting a black link.
I wish I bought the gray flat link instead of red as well. I didn't see a black one. I was figuring red would be easier to see when using.

Wish I could trade with someone. The red doesn't match my Snazzberry very well either so I am losing fashion points as well.

I'm giving some thought to just throwing the damn thing in my friend's vibratory finisher and take it out when about half the red powdercoat is gone, then spray some flat black here and there. Make it ugly.

As for walking around my vehicles when I get back to them, I used to do that. When I found something, it just pissed me off. I don't wanna look anymore. ?
