We are currently in Fayetteville North Carolina and might go run the length of the outer banks with a car and grab an AirB&B for a couple days. Anything or place you can recommend to do or see while on the Outer Banks? We have stayed on Duck Island and Cape Look Out in the past. Needs to be car friendly this time.
Hey, I thought you were on your way to Alaska! Did you make a wrong turn somewhere? ?

I used to live on Roanoke Island! Absolutely fantastic place to go! There's a restaurant in KDH called Goombay's...great place for lunch!
As a kid I loved going to Goombays, took my teenage boys to the outer banks last year and they loved it too, I ordered a beer and a sharks blood drink, or whatever the kids drinks are called now. My parents used to own Blackbeards lodge on Ocracoke, and the Carolinian in nags head which has been demolished.

So what would be the recommended PSI for the tires? I've heard between 15-20psi. I'm running 35x12.5x17 Wildpeak MTs?

I dropped my KO2's down to 22 psi and did not have any problems.

we had to turn around. We were about 350 miles north of the Washington/Canadian border on our way to Alaska, when our son called us. He just got home from being deployed for 9 months in April. We had not seen him in about 14 or 15 months. He said that he got new orders and if we wanted to see him, that he would be able to see us April 18th to August 10. Then he would be in 6 different states for training and then deployed to the Middle East and would not be home until late summer or early fall of 2023.

We turned the Jeep around and headed home. Got to Fayetteville on Thursday. Both of our sons live in Fayetteville North Carolina. We plan to be here for four plus weeks.

Our son spends a lot of time out of country. There is no way we are not going to see him before he heads back into the Middle East.

A quote from my son. “Dad have you heard the saying; Why would anyone jump out of a perfectly good aircraft?” Of course I have. He followed up with , “What makes you think the Army gave us a perfectly good aircraft? That thing was leaking hydraulic fluid, had zip ties and duck tape holding stuff together it was not a perfectly good airplane. I would have jumped out of it with out a parachute!”

Give your son our thanks for his service! I understand how you feel, my son is a (now retired) 20 yr US Marine. It’s tough watching them head out, esp to a war zone. Makes you proud and scared at the same time.

Got down to Ocracoke today....Jeep did well averaging 19+ MPG which is far better than anything it has done before. Can't wait till I get the 4.88's in it.

20psi was the sweet spot when I took my Jeep on the beach in Emerald Isle, NC in April. I‘m running 35” Nitto trail Grapplers. Just got back from OBX last week, but had to take the 4Runner for the extra space.

OK so first time out, did alright. Aired down to 18 psi which seemed fine aside from leaving the beach which was a small dune. More me driving poorly than the Jeep I think ;)

Everyone had a great time.

Some fun pics....
