Am I alone in thinking sill guards are extremely overrated? I see no reason to step there or place feet there at all. We step over it and into the Jeep. I suppose if you have small kids they may use it for entry and exit. But for adults, I think it’s a non issue.
Yeah, for adults, stepping on those sills seems like asking for an injury.

I was a door sill guard guy until I saw my friends’ tour company JLs. No wear and tear on their door sills without guards despite constant use. However, they’re still monsters for not installing grab handles.
It’s funny… I’ve always run door sills and when I saw the Wrangler didn’t come with them was surprised, especially given the nature of what’s on the feet of a ‘typical’ Wrangler driver. I’m glad they didn’t just put a black plastic on to satisfy a requirement, and left it open for the driver to decide. I saw the stainless sills as an Easter Egg I could put on that aren’t visible to the general public, but something cool I could enjoy every time I opened the doors. So it’s 60/40 form over function for me. I love ‘em!

No, you're not alone. And I can tell you that none of those door still guards cover the most vulnerable part of the sill, which is the outer corner.

Try driving your cleat wearing kids to soccer practice 4 times a week and 4 games per weekend, and you will very quickly find out that this is the wear area. Not the center of the door still!

I bought Rugged Ridge, but now considering those areas do not really get touched that much, I'm thinking I should have wrapped the sills, I might still rip off the sill guards and do a matte wrap.

Maybe, maybe not, but for the short folks (5'2"/158cm), it's easier to step on the door sill than inside when getting in. ?‍♀

I did the Mopar stainless pretty much right away. Like the bright look against my GCM and they do a good enough job protecting the high traffic areas-but not full coverage line some others-especially the back door

. They’re expensive for what they are, but one and done. Happy every time I open the door to climb in.
I have these coming for my billet silver. Chosen because they don’t interfere with the door seals. Also, I don’t mind the stainless look, but if I ever wanted to, I can powder coat these as they are metal to any color I may want. Would look cool with the embossed wrangler on it too. Can’t do that with the plastic ones.

I too have the stainless ones. If I were doing it over again I would put the 3M PPF down first, then put the stainless over the top. While we don't habitually step on them, I am seeing a few scratches that the PPF likely would have prevented.

I put on these just about a year ago and still going strong with no issues. We stand on them all the time to get to the roof rack / tent. Quadratec Custom Fit Entry Guards for 18-22 Jeep Wrangler JL

I'm running Rugged Ridge ones, love them! Easy install, good quality 3m tape. Lines up nicely.

I ended up getting these. Can’t wait to get my new Jeep delivered so I can put them on!
