More important than what sill guards you use is how you install them. Don't take the adhesive backing entirely off and then try to put it in place. It's very likely you won't get it right and leave gaps. Follow the steps in this video.

You can use the clear 3M decal stuff. Use painter's tape to make the template. You can also find clear/opaque grip tape.

I was thinking of doing the inside areas that the doors cover when closed, down to the pinch seams under, a lot of gravel roads have put quite a few chips in the paint.
Ya, I was thinking if my paint starts to bubble at the bottom of the doors, I'll LineX like an 8" strip the length of the vehicle.

I went with the rugged ridge door sills. Unlike some others, such as the Mopar’s, it covers the top of the sill which is what my kids like to use as a step.
I’ve never had it submerged, but I’ve sprayed it with the hose multiple times and I haven’t seen any water get inside. Nor complaints of dust.
When I installed it, I kept the backing tape on and slid it forward and backward until I found the spot that seemed to fit the best. Then I marked the spot, pealed off the tape, and installed it for good.
