How have the 40s been to daily drive with? This Jeep will remain a daily driver after it's upgrades as well. It'll get towed to the trails, but it'll be daily driven.

No issues at all. They follow the grooves in the road like a wider tire will but it is easily manageable. My Jeep is crazy nice on the road to the point it is almost too boring.

That's awesome. Yeah, the Jeep tramlines now as it is. I'm used to it, my car does the same with the track wheels and tires on it lol
Looks like you've got a sweet Corvette to play around with if you get too bored!
I can't wait to do my swap, what made you go with the MTs instead of a Nitto Trail Grappler or something like that?
I'm running the milestar 37s right now and they're pretty good. They chunk pretty bad on the sidewall ribs while wheeling though. And they're getting pretty loud as they wear, not that it bothers me much. It's the wife's daily anyways

I really like the Toyo's. The Japanese really know how to build a tire. I have zero balancing done to my wheels and tires so the combo works really well. I've used them on other Jeeps we've owned with really good success. The only down side is the weight. They are on the heavy side. But so far I've been really happy. :)

Yeah, i mean, when you're running 40s and beadlocks, you can't really get too upset about the weight I suppose.
I have the Evo tire carrier currently but not sure how it'll hold up to the weight of a 40. I'll email them when it gets closer to doing the swap and see what they have to say. I'm running that carrier and no rear bumper at all so it would be nice to not have to add another 2k to the budget to get a bumper mounted carrier

My combo is up there. 175 pounds for wheel and tire. Negatives of running a 10" wide steel double bead lock. I've read others are coming in around 140-150 for their single bead locks and other tire combos. My Jeep won't win any land speed records but I'm realistic about it being a Jeep. :)

Agreed. I tried to make my TJ a dual purpose machine and it damn near drove me insane. Everything got much easier when I just pushed it to Jeep duty and added a fun toy to compensate for the speed.

If the Jeep budget strains the wallet, don't get into tracking a car! All I can say is I'm glad my wife works!

I'm with you though, I pondered the idea of hemi swapping the Jeep. I had a charger scat pack for a while and loved the engine came to the conclusion that, while Jeeping is, by nature, an expensive hobby, tossing another 30k engine swap at it was not a very sound decision lol

The 3.6 makes plenty of power for the trails, imo

I've reduced down from too much crap I didn't enjoy to a Jeep I do enjoy. This last setup was always something. Tires, straps, oil change, wiring, welding.... it never stopped. So I lost count of what I enjoyed out of going on adventures. I ditched all that crap and built the JL. I just went too far into it for myself. Everything felt like work. It is nice now being able to get some place and not feeling like I need a day to recoup.

Awesome setup. I'm going to be buying a similar ram soon to tow the toys to their respective playgrounds. As I build the car more and more, it becomes less pleasant to drive around on a daily basis. So, I'll be getting a non dually diesel to daily instead of the M3.

Plus, I'd really like the ability to tow them so that if something breaks, I can get home. Less of a concern on the Jeep, since it's way easier to work on at the trail.

But I definitely see where you're coming from, and hope that doesn't happen to me. So far, I love the prep of going on a track or trail weekend and even unpacking is therapeutic, but bittersweet cuz that means the weekend is over!

Sweet JL. At first I was thinking your going to have a very elaborate.

How are the Falcons? Better than FOX IFP?

I have a TJ heading the direction your was, well close to it. 3 link front with assist for street with 37" and 39" reds for trail. SD axles and using ruffstuff tailling arms. Loved your TJ though and bought a hero from you. Hero belongs in a need to finish 4400

I really like the Falcons. I've been playing around with the adjuster knob quite a bit front and rear and found a balance I really enjoy. As honest as I can be.... this is the most boring Jeep I've ever driven. I'm starting to get V8 fever again just to liven it up a bit.

I haven't messed around with the Fox shocks so I can't compare.

Thanks for the love on the TJ. If you're still in GA it is down around you in Atlanta. :)

I'm not far from ATL.

I didn't have a JK but the JL's are nice to me with the 8 speed auto and v6. Far difference from a TJ and my JL is my DD on 35's no lift.

What size motor and brand for the JL? I have a gen 4 ls with cam, upping compression to around 10.5, and huge fast intake for party time going in the tj.

I'm leaning towards a bone stock 6.2 LS. I don't need crazy speed for the JL but the sound seems like what I'm after. Once you've had a V8 it is tough to go back. I've really wanted to keep away from it this go round but the Jeep is just so boring. I love it. But it could be better. I can't leave well enough alone.

Boredom has finally caused me to do some mods that have been sitting on the shelf for years. Finally got around to installing my rock lights.
