Does this paint quote seem realistic or excessive?

2018 JLU Sport S Wrangler…I had to raise hell since I was on year 6 and second owner but they agreed to pay for half. I read a bunch of articles and made sure ask them about their prep…if they color match and color blend with other panels of the jeep and how they handle the brackets, doors, and any other areas. The guy was super thorough…he found some areas at the base of the doors right next to the seem I never even knew about. Anyway…thoughts?
If it's a 2018, it is out of warranty for corrosion. Was this something you had reported io them in the past (before the 5 year corrosion warranty expired) and they had done nothing at that time?

that estimate is about half what stelantis had to pay a local shop just to repaint my 23 top. The wrong color.

I saw one where they re-did all 4 doors and a hood. Was like $19k all said and done
Yep. Anyone saying this quote is out of line hasn't seen the repair orders for people who have had the work done under warranty. If you need all 4 doors and hood you are looking at 15k minimum. Throw in the windshield frame and tailgate and you're talking 19k.

If this is being paid by insurance, I would be more concerned about a shop that does it right rather than the cost. And why mess with anything yourself to shave some dollars off?

$7,355.85 versus $1,790.25? The 2nd seems questionably low.

lol that’s what I thought too. I did talk with the guy and he was actually the body man that used to work for the jeep dealership that’s paying for half of the job….he even has one of their sort booths. He shot it to me pretty straight. He told me some areas the other guy said were corrosion were not corrosion and that he’s been painting for over 30 years and has never had one jeep returned to him with problems he fixed. That sounded pretty good to me!

Corrosion
That's pretty descriptive. I don't see battery cables or anything on the underbody included. I thought I could help you out, but sounds like you don't need help. Thanks.
