Looking for comments on whether the Sky One Touch (SOT) significantly increases how hot it gets inside. Down here in the south, black vehicles are a "no go" for the Mrs. and me. Well, no matter what color Jeep we get, an SOT roof only comes in black. For those of you (especially in the South or southwest) who have had both SOT and non-SOT Jeeps, have you noticed a difference between SOT and non-SOT in regard to getting hot inside?

Thanks!

I'm thinking it'll be hotter than a non-black hardtop, but visit a dealership and see for yourself.

Thanks. We did visit one, and the Jeeps are all sitting out in the sun, so they were all hot inside. The red Jeep with SOT did feel a little hotter inside than the Hydro Jeep without SOT. But, that was static sitting in the lot. We were wondering more about in use on the road, does the A/C keep up to keep it cool. Or, does it stay hot? No sure if the dealerships will be happy with us testing a couple Jeeps for a solid hour apiece to get a good, valid test result. We figured those who have owned and extensively used both SOT and non-SOT could give a better answer.
Thanks.

A/C will keep up; just the same as soft top models.

But that won't be an issue because the top will be down anyhow, so no a/c needed! ;)

The SOT works great in Arizona, but I also have a HotHead Liner that helps as well.

Get a HotHead headliner, should pretty much make it a wash with a hardtop. I considered one, but the AC keeps up so it’s now when I get a round tuit.
Edit- too slow- anyway, another vote

I say it does get hotter than the hard top in white. I had a white gladiator hard top before, and I feel like the SOT radiates heat more onto my head than the hard top did. I also have the hot-heads headliner, and I have the spider shade installed concurrently.

The hot heads headliner helps A LOT, though. And the A/C does a good job mitigating the radiating heat.

I use the Hot Headliners and they make a huge difference in the noise and heat transfer. So yes they get hot in the full sun. I live in Nashville, TN.

Absolutely get a Hothead headliner if you get a SOT! The noise and heat is greatly diminished. I had a SOT (with headliner) and my wife had a standard black hardtop (no headliner) at the same time, I felt like mine was more comfortable overall. Not sure how much the headliner would have helped hers, but we wound up putting a Sunrider on hers so I think the headliner just in the back would have been fairly pointless.
