Has anyone noticed warm air rising from floor ? We have notice A.c. continues to blow cold but occasionally warm air comes into floor board. Smells like it’s from engine. Then after a minute or so goes away. And floor is cold again.
yes, on long road trip heat coming up from passenger side. i turned ac on head and feet position, it went away after a few minutes, strange.

I actually haven’t felt anything odd myself. Wondering... what vehicles are y’all coming from? Most have insulation under the carpet, since it’s removable, the wrangler does not. Could this just be a natural cycle of the emissions system or something and you’re just feeling it more because there’s no padding under the carpet?
Most recently, I am coming from a Toyota Tundra - however, I've owned 7 Wranglers now - 6 of them being JK (08, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17) and now this JL. It feels like your legs heat up as if there is some kind of ambient heat blowing around near your feet. It comes and goes as well, so something is happening.

I honestly thought maybe there is some kind of heat exchange that kicks in when needed by the firewall. I have no idea though. Turning on the AC for the floorboard masks it, but it was concerning when it first happened. I wasn't sure if there was some kind of fire building in the engine bay or what. It was totally random.

So we aren't the only ones with this issue? On a recent 2 hour trip (in far northern Minnesota so we can't blame sultry jungle-like temps), it seemed to happen every 10 minutes or so and last about 30 seconds. Keep us posted if dealer(s) find anything.

Definitely not the only ones with the issue. I actually thought I was crazy, so I didn't mention it to my father who I took with me on a two hour drive. He immediately said, "did you turn on the heater for a second" when it happened without me prompting it at all... so I know I'm not crazy. It kind of feels like it's the Jeep flushing out heat or turning on a pump that is cycling hot fluid through a heat exchanger or something to keep heat down when it needs it. I really have no idea what is going on.

Thanks for tagging us, Zack. We are unable to give any technical advice as to why you guys are experiencing this heat. If you're planning on visiting the dealer, be sure to let us know. We'd be glad to help however we can with that process.

@JeepCares I'll have to hold off on taking this to a dealer for now. Mine does this randomly and not super consistently, so it would be hard to recreate it to show a dealer what it's doing. They'd have to take it and drive it for a little while... and I'm still in early break in miles, so I won't be doing that for the time being.

If anyone is able to replicate this for their dealer and has a clear answer as to what is going on, please post it! I am curious if this is to be expected or if it's abnormal. I'll see if I can find a way to easily replicate it in the meantime.

Well that white shit has a tendency to linger FAR to damn long here...
We might get 1/4 to 1/2 inch every 10-20 years... And it stays around for maybe long enough for some people to create matchbox size snowmen. :)

Ya but the 100+ with 80-90% humidity seems to linger far too long!
Most definitely... I'm waiting on the next Ice Age... Maybe *then* Houston will have a *temperate* climate... :)

Well was on a 60 mile trek in SoCal with temps over 90 today. I had the AC on for the first part of the trip...didn't feel anything. The return trip, had the windows down, AC off, it had cooled to a mild 80 and then I noticed the heat building in the footwell. Having read this thread I was curious what would happen if I just circulated the fan with air blowing down in the foot well.

At first the result was just warm air blowing in the footwell but after a few minutes...it was fine and did not return until I changed the direction flow to be on the dash vents only. After changing the venting, the footwell heated up again but like everyone else here...it went away a few minutes later. End result...no clue what that is but its pretty darn warm air thats for sure.

I'll just call it a dual-zone climate control and my wife will like it. Her idea of a comfortable temperature is a bit warmer than mine.
