I thought I would share my recent ongoing issue with my local dealer. In Early FEB I sold my previous JL and cancelled my extended warranty. This allowed me to get a refund of 3k dollars. On March 8 I called the dealer asking if my refund had showed up. They told me it could take 8-9 weeks for them to receive the refund. So Friday I decided to call the company who the extended warranty was purchased through and ask for an explanation why the refund process is so long. They informed me the refund was issued to the dealership on March 4. I go visit the dealership that day but say nothing about talking to the insurance company before i hear what they have to say. Again I get the 8-9 week excuse and that's when i tell them i had already spoke with the insurance company and knew what date they issued the refund to them. He starts trying to make more excuses and now it's clear to me this guy has no idea what's going on and he is the finance manager. So i'm suppose the hear from him next week. We'll see what he says. So, why be so dishonest about something that their customer can verify so Easly? I highly doubt I will ever use this dealer again because I don't feel their trustworthy.

Unfortunately, the same thing happened to me. The insurance company promised that the dealer would refund the money to my car loan account within 45 days, but I have been waiting for half a year and still haven't received it. I don't know what to do. Been to the dealership many times. They were always pushing and pushing.
Your next call should be to an attorney.

When you refer to the "finance guy" is that the employee who tries to sell extended warranties at time of sale, or an actual employee of the accounting department? You want the latter.

I did request speaking to the accounting department and was told it's not possible for me to talk with that person.

Went through this before as well. The warranty company issues a refund pretty quick, but the dealer takes a while. Generally, gets deposited and they have to wait for a check to be cut from Corp/Finance and mail it to the dealer or your home. it took me 5 weeks to get mine.

You needed to call up the warranty company directly and cancel including sending a letter to confirm cancellation. Then the check should have been sent to you, why was it sent to the dealership?

This warranty company all cancellations have to be processed through the dealership. The cancellation request letter was complete while I was at the dealership on Jan 27. The company will then send the refund to the dealer then dealer to me. I'm sure not all company's use the same process.

second this

I went thru this and also net profits from the sale of a vehicle with 2 different dealerships
the "big" checks get written by someone at corporate (when the dealer is part of a chain mostly not your "family-owned" dealer) and also remember the people at the dealer care mostly about selling cars and not keep track of stuff like this

my suggestion to you is go to the dealer and ask the general manager who is the person you should be checking in with and then ask the person how often you can check with them without being annoying, most don't mind a weekly check-in, I'm sure you'll get your money soon enough

I searched for lemon law attorneys, but they only accept repair related issues, not contract issues.

Call a local TV news station. If you're willing to go on camera, they'll likely help you and get results
