Agree with others who are suggesting bad gas or clogged filter.

I had a fuel pump on a Lincoln Town Car die on me on the interstate one time, with exactly the symptoms you describe.

Well, we can eliminate the coil, spark plugs and spark plug wires.

Seriously, if it is not bad fuel or a clogged fuel filter, check both batteries. They are a possible cause.
I would assume at this point that both batteries should be fine as I always have my JL on a trickle charger per advice for you guys. The entire electrical system seemed to be functioning normally.

OP, if I understand you correctly, you were able to restart the Jeep after it happened, but it only ran for a few seconds at a time.

If that is so, I think we can eliminate a bad battery.

Did you get your check engine light on and pulled the codes?

If your check engine light did not turn on, I'm inclined to think fuel system issues, but most of them would also throw codes.

Good luck having it fixed.
I did get a check engine light but did not pull the codes.

While at Lithia in Medford keep one hand on your wallet at all times! Sorry to inform, but they don’t have a very good reputation here.
Thanks for the advice. I have full warranty coverage but given they are slammed with service and shorthanded so I think I will head back to Seattle in my rental and give them the time to do it right if they can. Then I will return to pick it up.

Does it make a difference that I was going up a 6% grade?
Does not make a difference, when flat towing the Wrangler, the trans must be in park or in gear if a manual and transfer case in neutral.

Well I wasn't going to sit around and spend more on hotels and rental vehicle, so I visited the dealership, collected all my stuff then my wife, two wirehaired pointing griffons and I headed back home. On my return I was contacted by the service guy responsible for my vehicle. BTW- I like this guy! He wasn't running around in a Mopar uniform. Rather he has on a lumberjack shirt, plugs in his ears, shaved head and a long beard. He spent quite a bit of time with me going over the details and then we went out to take a look at the Rubi to reproduce the symptoms. He has been very responsive and thorough in his communications. The next day he grabbed a service tech , who has a RAM 1500 w/3L diesel to run the diagnostics. It turns out his Ram had a similar problem. They found that the ECM was sending out faulty signals, or at least signals that did not match specs. New ECM on order, likely 2-weeks. Stellantis case manager has been in touch and wants all my out of pocket receipts. Both the Service manager at the dealership and Stellantis are trying to expedite the replacement ECM for the dealership. They have indicated that they would fly me back down when the work is complete. Story isn't over but so far so good in my book. Lets see how the last shoe drops.

Bet 5 bucks its not a pcm, your average dealer tech seldom knows how to use or even has access to an oscilloscope needed to properly diagnose a problem like that (former ASE master tech). Very common for folks to throw a computer at a problem they can't diagnose.

Well, I guess I will never go broke if you owe me $5 bucks for the rest of my life :) . They expedited the PCM, installed and it started like normal. Test drove it 15 miles and all was good. Test drove over 30 miles the next day and all was good. Planning to fly back down to Oregon next week. So far Stellantis case manager will cover towing, rental car and flight back down. Working on the hotel. Better than I was expecting but as they say, the check is in the mail.

I have to say, as I read along I was tending to agree with the other guy. I thought to myself no effing way it's that easy. Dude is gonna be without his Jeep for months.

Pleasantly surprised....nice.

Another pleasant surprise is that Stellantis flew me down to pick up the vehicle and is covering over $1100.00 of my our of pocket expenses.
