I noticed that shifter light PRND and the dash light "Press Brake and Push Button to Start" goes on and off intermittently while the vehicle is parked/off/doors locked.

I am not sure if these lights are capable of killing the batteries, but I had a dead battery today.

I also don't know if this is normal, but I've never took note if it before.

Are these intermittent lights normal on the JL?

If you have proximity entry and the fob is in your possession and you touch either front door handle or the tailgate handle, it is normal.

Unfortunately my vehicle is not equipped with proximity entry and I don't even have the key on me.

Are you still within warranty?

Have you noticed the instrument panel being lit up as well? If so...it could be the dash cluster causing the problem.

I am still within warranty.

I expect to have a dead battery by morning.

@Go4Low

What you are seeing is UCONNECT waking up ...... this wake up can be triggered / is triggered by many lets call it, routine interactions you have with the JL.

When testing a certain device, 3 yrs. ago I actually set up a camera in my JL to watch the interior of my JL overnight, one night. I found out that UCONNECT will actually, normally. wake itself up on occasion during the night normally.. not often but it does...

IF you get an add on device that is say not dealing with UCONNECT properly ........and if that add on causes UCONNECT to awaken lots during the night.... in general.... you will have battery depletion and eventually due to that ongoing UCONNECT related depletion you will experience a no start situation thanls to battery depletion..

What add on's do you have installed?

Are you running a programmer for example? A certain feature "Set In-Motion Nav", that if you do not turn off after use, can / may possiblty cause what you are seeing in regard to UCONNECT awakening over and over..

Had I seen this post last night, I would have told you to remove fuse F97 from the PDC until you get a handle on this.. Do the F97 fuse pull and UCONNECT has no power/cannot use 12v power.

Do you have an OBD reader plugged in?

@Rhinebeck01 That is some good insight and feedback, thank you.

I do have a taser mini, but it is not hooked up to the jeep.

I notice the screen wakes up consistently every 40 seconds.

No dead battery this morning though. Good INFO on the fuse ??

The only thing I've been tinkering with past couple days is splicing into the tail light harness. I swapped out the factory LED tail lights for the Nextventure flush LED tail light and added a Rigid chase light. The Nextventure lights do throw up a bulb out code while driving, but I don't think the screen waking would have any relation to splicing wires in the rear.

Nothing plugged in.

I am hoping that the screen waking up every 40 seconds is normal and the battery won't drain again ??

I took it to the dealership and they changed the main battery and did TSB 08-133-21 (Radio software update from 34.2 to 39.6.

- I was expecting the AUX battery to be bad/replaced, but the dealership said the AUX tested fine.

- The uconnect is no longer waking up ever 40 seconds, so I expect no more drain battery.

I did not like the experience with the factory battery set up, plus I don't use the start/stop system. I ended up purchasing the Genesis Dual battery kit that I'll be installing in a few weeks.

Well I spoke too soon...the Uconnect started waking up again, the jeep seem to party whenever it feels like.

It wasn't doing it yesterday, but noticed it today. I didn't touch anything, I just drove it from the dealer.

Now back to where I started... ?

I suspect this is a software issue, or it might be a "normal" nuisance and all those who run into this issue should probably expect more frequent battery drain problems as the battery wears.

@Rhinebeck01 SOLVED:

I had a technician at the dealership that was smarter than the books and figured out why the Uconnect kept waking up.

Issues I was having:
1. Uconnect kept waking up.
2. Dead AUX battery (Load tested).
3. AUX switches temporarily unavailable.
4. No starts due to dead battery.
5. No start, error message vehicle not in park but the gear shifter is in P position.
6. Start/Stop malfunction light.

I had tapped into wire # 8 to get Low Power / Trail Light for my Rigid Chase Light. But now I understand that # 8 is a diagnostic wire. All things considered I actually do not need that function.

The initial diagnostics at the dealership seemed to point away from modifications on the vehicle. Maybe a bad AUX battery converged with the # 8 tap, but I can't say for sure as I am not a tech.

Hopefully someone else can avoid that mistake.

Here is a pic of the Right rear tail light plug oriented with red locking clip towards the floor:

The diagnostic wire that gave me power, but I should NOT have tapped into is second from the right, next to the larger black wire.

Any update on this.. i am having a similar issue.

I have the genesis kit. Drove my jeep for about an hour sunday, then tried to start it on tuesday and both batteries were stone dead.
