Damaged windshield club

I had mine replace the other day. It had 8 cracks in it. I ran it as long as possible.

Our '22 Rubicon has had FOUR replacements. We carry glass coverage and have for decades. We've had 5 Jeeps over the last 20 years. We rarely get 12 months on a windshield. Our "record" was four in one year including two within less than a month.

My record was 50 miles after replacement.

And I was pissed about getting a big ass rock smack at under 2,000 miles with my new 24 JLUR. At only 50 miles I'd have been REALLY pissed.

Mine came with Gorilla glass from the factory I'm assuming they all do don't they?

So I take it most everyone doesn't replace them back with Gorilla glass??

I'm thinking that's directly correlated with who is paying for it. Insurance = GG. Self = nope.

I did not want to put a new windshield in the Jeep before I went to Alaska as it often reported that may get broken windshields in Alaska and it added three cracks to mine in Alaska.

I am taking the Jeep to the Tint shop tomorrow to get a 5 inch strip of tint added to the top of the windshield. One of the best things I have done to make the Jeep better for driving. I never get blinded nor do I have to mess with the sun visors because I can just look through the tinted section when there is glare or so A-hole driving with their brights on.

Recently replaced ours, 2024 JLU Willy’s $1520 was the cheapest of 5 shops GG or not. Safelite couldn’t even get one for 2 weeks. One shop said there are 7 different versions for the 2024 due to antenna and forward collision options. IDK, the dealership threw in separate windshield insurance for 3 years due to an unrelated a screw up on their part when purchasing so it was covered no deductible. They said then the windshield was really expensive. I guess so.

Safelite estimates $600 for OEM Gorilla glass and assures me it is OEM. We will see.

Replaced the windshield this weekend with OEM Gorilla glass. $695 installed By Safelite. Tech said he does 5 Wranglers every week.
