The rear axles changed for the JL starting in 2018.Will "normal" D44 diff covers fit the 22 jl rear and/or front axle housing?
I have made several in the past and was going to reuse them if they cleared steering and track bars on the jl

I was thinking maybe the cover bolts....but the Advantek is metric. Not sure when Dana went metric...The rear axles changed for the JL starting in 2018.
While the marketing department calls them by the old names, Dana 35 and Dana 44, they really are the Avantek M200 and M220. They share basically zero common parts between them.
Same thing applies to the front "Dana 30 and Dana 44" being the M186 and M210.
When they came out with the Avantek...I was thinking maybe the cover bolts....but the Advantek is metric. Not sure when Dana went metric...
I know you're a machinist and probably want to do it yourself, but Barnes down in Mills River has some cool stuff and may give you some inspiration:Okay, cool.
Great info!!! after looking at the front D44 and the ridiculous amount of leverage against the upper C i shook my head...WTF???
So I guess I will sell the covers I made and make some more for these.
Need to find takeoffs to measure
Thanks!!!
Nope. JLs have the new Advantek line from Dana.

Good question.I've asked before and never got a straight answer. Which fill hole do you use?
I'd assume the service fill is the design capacity, and the initial fill is for extra lube to carry break in wear metals or to ensure lubrication of bearings/seals.Seems like that would be a huge loss of fluid if the bottom one is used for service fill. If you fill it to the top one, and in 6 months use the bottom to check and nothing comes out. That, to me, seems like a huge loss of fluid.
I'd use the bottom. So if I change my diff cover to that one, do I use the top one for the initial fill, or the bottom since my diff has miles on it?
I open both. I put oil in through the top hole. I fill until it comes out the bottom. So if I change my diff cover to that one, do I use the top one for the initial fill, or the bottom since my diff has miles on it?
