Another DIY going down

I was piecing together a kit, trying to get away cheap, and wife said “what are you doing…… just get the kit you want…..God love her, she’s awesome! Hopefully she’ll be in the same mindset when I start looking at tons………

There's no place close to me that I’d trust rebuilding my shocks, so I decided to just to do it myself….. I’d have to ship to cali and back (probably next day them or something). They want 200.00 a shock to do shock and resi, which I don’t think is out of line, but just not comfortable with shipping….

The shocks are fine right now but I wanted to start gathering the stuff I’ll need to do the job…… I’m gonna get my RK RRD 2.25s off the shelf, check the nitrogen and fill them if necessary…. I’ll be putting them on so I’m not grounded while working on the Foxes… I’m anticipating it taking me some time at least on the first one……

Yeah, not as long, but ok for back ups, fronts are 29.25 extended rears are 30.25…..

Cleaned up my norco genius 10 external plug today….. didn’t care for having it pinned up under the fender bracket……

Now it’s here….

Got it on the ramp turned full lock driver, no issues….

Once again, laziness has prevailed… lol.
I installed a plug on my fender for my Norco 10 so I wouldn’t have to open the hood to hook up, well I don’t want to open the hood and unhook the wires from the battery just to take off my fender either, lol…..so….. I installed a couple quick disconnects, now I just pull the tape and pull them apart…..the wife thinks I’m a genius…….but in reality laziness is just a powerful motivator…..

Some pro bono work this weekend…. This is my buddy’s shop. Needed a new set of stairs

Gonna try and finish up the handrails next week….the deck is next, probably in the not so distant future….

Got the railing done….. at the top I just went straight for now, until he decides to finish the deck…

I’ll transition the top stair section so the deck railing and stair railing are at the same elevation……I’ll have to put in a post, can’t easily join stair to straight railing with this particular product like you can with wood…. Pic is how they had it I’ll put in a post where the red dot is…….

I used a little FL cracker engineering to hold the deck railing in place for now, didn’t want to run screws through the plastic post sleeve that wouldn’t hide later….I used some hurricane zippys, rated for 200 mph winds, and don’t worry, I torqued them to spec….

For those of you TLDR and you’re wandering what this has to do with my Jeep, this is where I do a lot of the work on it….it was here for long arms, gears , etc……

Got the RRDs off the shelf and tuned them up.. 3 of the 4 filled with nitrogen to 100 psi… compressed them a few times and they’re working great…. The forth one blew out the schrader valve as I was compressing it. Valve hit the wall like a bullet, and oil squirted everywhere ….… Sorry no pics of the carnage.. …….Turns out the threads look stripped, I was on borrowed time

Took the shock apart , everything looks good, don’t need to rebuild it….. Just need to get a new top cap with the schrader… I reached out to RK, they said they can sell me a new cap, and got a couple answers I needed…
