It took 3.5 years and almost 70k miles but my Sahara finally joined the club. I’m enjoying my pit free windshield while it lasts. Owning two Jeeps, my insurance company hates us.

Well, I’ve joined the club, times 2. I’ve had my 2018 JLU Sport S for 6 months. Bought it with 50k miles and added another 18k. Original windshield spontaneously cracked while sitting in my driveway. Had it replaced with OEM glass 3 weeks ago. A pebble flew up on the highway yesterday, I’m assuming from the truck in the lane next to me. No initial crack, but one had developed front and center about 20 miles down the road.
What everyone’s experience with budget glass and/or any type of windshield protection?

Definitely not tailgating a gravel truck. The dang rock really looked like it was tossed down from a cloud. I guess it's more likely another vehicle launched it, though. It even chipped the paint!

Replaced the windshield on my 2 door Jeep 3 times. Then got a 2018 Sahara 4 door. On the delivery of my vehicle rock into the windshield. So dealer replaced took 6 months to get one. Then the new one also cracked. Not in sight line so not doing it. 200 dollars each windshield not fun

Just over two months since I had a new windshield installed and it’s cracked already. Used my insurance $50 deductible last time and received oem glass through Safelite. I’m going to pay out of pocket this time and try aftermarket ($300 vs $660) with a local company a friend has used. I’m concerned with filling another claim so soon through insurance.

I take these posts as a cautionary tale and will definately ask State Farm about glass protection or lower the deductible. Sorry about the buzzkill though

I have glass protection with State Farm and you won't need to pay deductible

I went aftermarket years ago, and after many stone strikes, no cracks. I do tend to repair chips when they happen, so maybe that helps. Good luck with your results and hope they are as good as mine.

36,000 miles and 2 years, but finally cracked my gorilla glass. Safelite just wrapped up replacement with OE gorilla glass. Hopefully we get another two years before the next one ?

Does this meanI get the gorilla glass warranty now? Or do they weasel out of that?

I just joined the club! Lucky me! I was blessed into the club by a rock last night! Any do’s and dont‘s regarding getting a replacement! I already checked and I do have coverage thru my insurance.

I had my windshield replaced by Safelight, all I did was call my insurance company. They wanted to know the best way to be contacted, gave them a phone number and an hour later Safelight called to set up a convenient appointment for me. The replacement took about an hour, right at my house.

Mine cracked several years ago, rock strike. My insurance company said spend another $14 over six months and get $0 deductible on comprehensive. Haven’t had a rock strike since! With those jeep easter eggs, windshields are pricey. I think the new ones with embedded antennas will be even pricier!

Had a crack in mine for about a year . Finally got it replaced by safelight but there was a chip in the new oem windshield and the guy didn’t see it until after he installed it , so I’m getting another new windshield this week. . Hopefully it’s smooth sailing from here

We talked to the dealer when ours did that, they replaced ours under warranty because it was determined that the sudden and intense heat from the poorly designed defroster caused the crack. The windshield had started building up with snow while driving and I switched it to defrost after the car was already hot, it cracked within seconds of doing that and we were the only vehicle on the road at the time.
