According to my father many years ago the lights were thought up on a wide truck so the headlights would be be confused with two motorcycles side by side. Not sure why that was a problem in the ‘40s and ‘50s but he was a smart man.

Easy, that was a joke back in the day….. 2 guys on a Motorcyle see 2 motorcycles coming ahead. One guy says to the other, look, 2 motorcycles ahead, lets drive right between them…… then boum, they end up in the ditch. In the high desert areas from central to eastern Oregon it’s still possible to drive fifty or sixty miles without seeing another vehicle, particularly after about 10:00 at night. Having a light package like this makes the drive more comfortable and less stressful, because you can see. They may attract suicidal jack rabbits, but they help you see the larger critters, like cows, deer, and elk, that can ruin your day. I’ve had plenty of lights on my rigs since Daylighters first became a thing in the 70s, but the new LEDs are a level of small-and-bright I couldn’t have imagined back then.

Long Island has a lot of heavily wooded areas that are full of suicidal deer. These lights make it easy to spot their eyes glowing at a far enough distance to just about eliminate their ability to kiss my bumper.

(I believe there is some logic that disable the fender DRLs when you turn on the fogs even).

On mine they dim but do not go off when the headlights are on. I checked into this because I got pull over a couple of weeks ago by a Wisconsin state trooper that informed me that I could have no more than 4 forward facing white lights and had me turn off the fogs. I did some research and found that the law specifies that the 4 lights must produce 300 candlepower to be counted. The fender lights do not count.

Used the white rock lights at night in moab with headlights off so not to blind my wife...uh I mean my spotter. May have saved a marriage.

Okay, I wired in my Baja Designs S8 this weekend

which included back lighting when the lights are off. I didn’t realize it was 3 distinctive lights. So now I can go for those 12” spacers for my wheels.

I did some research and found that the law specifies that the 4 lights must produce 300 candlepower to be counted. The fender lights do not count.

I have my tazer set up to keep everything lit and no drop offs if I hit the high beams.

I don't think the cops here will bother anyone with stock lights. It's the ones with all the aftermarket ones that get pulled over.

I did order the XR fender spats, just in case I get a "fixit" ticket for the tires poking out.

Goober Lighters, Unite! I totally understand why not everyone likes the amber lights, or extra lights in general. I debated for a while, then tried them out. I personally like them, but then again I'm a sucker for lights.

I think one of the greatest thing about the Jeep community is that each owner truly makes his/her Jeep their own. I enjoy seeing all the things people have done to theirs that reflect their personalities. You can learn a lot about a person just from the vehicle they drive, the color, and the add-ons. Not sure what that says about me, but it's fascinating stuff! ?

You can sure do some cool stuff to Jeeps.

But any vehicle can be Gooberized. It’s all in the eye of the beholder… These guys think their mods are pretty cool too.…
