Point of clarification: the black reservoir in the back near the firewall is for the engine. The smaller transparent one near the grille is for the turbo.Hello, first turbo. There are 2 coolant reservoirs. Do I fill these independently? They are not tied together at some point? My engine reservoir is full, but the back black one is lower. Thanks in advance
You could just add a bit of water as well. For a little top off, water is fine. Probably best to use a distilled water to prevent adding minerals that lead to corrosion. But there's a lot of corrosion inhibiter in the coolant already.Hello, first turbo. There are 2 coolant reservoirs. Do I fill these independently? They are not tied together at some point? Really... I always assumed it was the other way around because of their locations. Whaddya know.Point of clarification: the black reservoir in the back near the firewall is for the engine. The smaller transparent one near the grille is for the turbo.
What if you use an aftermarket coolant that will work. For example, my Jeep puked out most of the coolant back in 2021 because of those loose bolts. I went and just used the Zerex brand and it's still in there. I wonder what happens to the engine and or coolant system is not using the Mopar brand? I hear people say you need to use it but never a reason as to what happens if you use another that meets the specs.Use only MOPAR OAT 50/50 Mix antifreeze.
As long as the aftermarket coolant meets spec (check your owner's manual), it's fine. You can mix different colors and brands of coolant as long as they are the same type. What if you use an aftermarket coolant that will work. Never ever add water.... only in case of extreme dire emergency. You could just add a bit of water as well. For a little top off, water is fine. Probably best to use a distilled water to prevent adding minerals that lead to corrosion. But there's a lot of corrosion inhibiter in the coolant already.
If you were changing the coolant, of course you'd need the OEM recommended coolant, but just topping off, not so much.
Also, any of the big name coolants of the right type are fine.
