I have a 2026 Rubicon with the 2.0t engine. It only has 264 miles on it. After reading all the posts about coolant levels I decided to check mine. The dipstick reads right at the add line with the engine completely cold. I am tempted to add some coolant to get it to the half way mark, but it's super cold here, 17 degrees, and I am wondering if the level will come up when the ambient temperature increases. Thoughts..

With the engine cold, add OAT coolant to the reservoir such that the fluid level rests at or just below the Full mark on the dipstick.

Remember also to monitor the coolant level in the separate intercooler reservoir, adjacent to the driver side headlight.

When you pull out the dipstick, those bottom two holes should be filled with liquid . Are they? I know it looks like pink coolant on the stick, but if those holes aren’t filled , then the coolant is lower than you think. Note, my 2023 came a full 16 oz low on coolant from the factory.

Thanks everyone! I got my phone light and looked in the tank. It was actually below the min line. It only took about 8 ounces, but the engine was a little warm. I’m going to check it in the morning when it’s super cold. I don’t know why they even have that stupid dipstick. The owner’s manual should advise you to look in the tank. Anyway, thanks again!!!

I learned that there is another way to see the fill line. Take a flashlight and look inside the reservoir you’ll see the max fill level.
Ah yes. When my dipstick is at 'full' the internal indicator is just below 'min'. I don't think it is critical. When cold it needs to have some coolant in it and not so much that it overflows when hot.

What worries me more is that this is the first vehicle I've had in the last 35 years that consumes coolant. At first I was writing it down to so air bubbles but any more would indicate a problem. I just hope it makes up its mind in the next 8 months before the warranty runs out.

For a fair while after taking delivery of my 2.0T new in 2021, I'd have to recurringly check and add a few oz. of coolant to the main coolant reservoir. The level eventually stabilized. So, give it time and yours may eventually settle down too.

It's worth saying that the coolant level in the separate intercooler reservoir, adjacent to the driver headlight, hasn't ever lost a drop.

I can't say that the forum membership has positively identified or agreed on what causes the seemingly consistent consumption of coolant in the GME engines, irrespective of model year. My personal theory is that it's a combination of underfilling at the factory, paired with resultant air bubbles in the line that slowly work themselves out over time.

Same experience as Heimkehr on the wife’s 21 4xe. I assumed the same as their assessment.

Have ordered new a 21, 22 and 25. All three required adding coolant when new. The 21 took the most, then the 22 then the 25. The 25 only took about a cup and a half.

I check the level by just taking a flash photo down the fill neck. Thankfully they included a level indicator inside the tank.

It was very shocking when I checked my 21 a couple days after I got her home. The tank was dry.
