Odd. I'm pretty sure the wheel rolls up and then clicks on my MY23 turning on a light in both driver and passenger footwells. I don't think it would give the OP the illumination they're looking for, but at least it's something.
They changed it to one common dimmer in 2023. I MUCH preferred the previous dual dimmer setup so I could dim the floor lights and keep the instrument cluster brighter at the same time.

In the 23, the floor lights are either on full blast at night OR the cluster is too dim to see.

I can't stand the interior lighting "options". It's either too bright or too dark. Absolute garbage.

I'm not looking for some fancy Benz ambient lighting ffs, but a string of $20 Amazon LED light strips have better options for lighting than what Jeep provides ?

Don't ask me. After 2 and a half years, I just discovered these wheels on an extended road trip with a lot of night driving!

" I believe 22' and older have two, one or interior light strength and one for dash lights. My one controls both, which again is not a big deal but annoying since I know it was there last year."

That's weird. My 2022 JLURD has the light at the bottom of the cup holder plus the lights for both footwells. Maybe it's part of the convenience group?

Note that mine has two wheels to the right of the lights dial.
My '23 Rubi has both footwell and cupholder lighting as well, even with the single dial. Really not sure why a higher trim of the same year would be missing one of those features.

Just checked the 392 build-and-price configurator at Jeep.com and "illuminated cupholders" is definitely listed under the standard equipment section. I'd recommend having a dealer check it out and see if it's actually installed and if not, have it corrected under warranty. I'm guessing that it's there but just super dim like mine (footwell lights aren't very bright either).

My 2022 JLUR does not have those lights. In fact the passenger foot well doesn't even have a light. The wheel next to the headlight switch controls only the driver foot well light which never has seemed right
Sounds broke to me. I have passenger footwell lighting 2021 JL.

Fun Fact:
My early build 18' JLU Sport had lights in the footwells, door handles, and front / rear cupholders.

My 22' JLU Sport Willys XR deleted the LEDs on the door handles.

I also had a 21' JT Willys Sport. I noticed minor differences that were also removed from the 18'.

Over the years, I've noticed Jeep remove subtle things that people wouldn't notice that were missing.

Where is it on the build and price? I looked around but cant find it. I checked the sticker, not that it would be there, but didn't see anything either.

I'll have to play with the dial tonight while its dark in the garage and see if anything lights up.

Jeep.com > 'Build & Price' (upper right-hand corner) > 2023 Wrangler > 392 Build > Summary (all the way at the bottom, to the right of the net pricing) > 'Standard Features' > 'Interior Features' > 'Additional Interior Features' > "Illuminated Cupholders" (right-hand column).

When I get a chance I'll look at all of the build sheets to see if there are obvious patterns where those lights exist or don't.

ok, so you guys are right. There are LEDs in the cupholders, albeit very small and pretty much useless. This is another suck for the single wheel dimmer. When I have it almost all the way down, which is the way I prefer it, you can't really see the cup LEDs at all. I have to turn it up all the way to see it, which makes the dash way too bright. The LEDs are down in the bottom of the tray under a piece of rubber as well, so it only shows in the cupholder, which I guess for LED cup holder lights make sense.. It just doesn't light up anything else. A small light under the front of the arm rest latch would be best.

I bought a little book reading LED that has a dimmer control and I'll try the light coasters and see if it makes it a little better. Now seeing the LED in the cup holder, I don't think the coasters will work either, but they are already on the way..

Below is a pic with the dimmer light all the way up for reference (man I wish they had left the two wheels). No other lights in the garage, but a little daylight sneaking through windows. Put a cup in there and you won't see anything.

Is it just the uConnect display that's too bright or the gauges too? There's 2 separate brightness settings in the uConnect menu that you can use to further dim that particular screen ('Settings' button in lower right-hand corner > 'Display' button > 'Display Mode' = Manual > (back one) > 'Display Brightness with Headlights ON' > lower value).

After lowering those values and moving the interior lighting dial to right below the upper detents seems like a happy medium for everything (spin the wheel from the very bottom to as high as it goes before hitting the bump). But yeah, having 2 independent wheels would be infinitely easier to live with.

Thanks for the additional info. I'll play around with that as well. Generally its the dash and uconnect, but perhaps I just need to get used to it. I'll try some different light settings and toys and see if anything useful comes out of it and report back if I find anything good.

It looks like it's just Sports that lack a "Console Bin Task Light". Some have it, but most don't.

For 2023 as of this morning:
35,504 Sports
32,851 Sports that lack that light

I'll probably go with a USB A light (USB C is above and keep that for Android Auto) and a coaster. Below are some pics. Coasters are cool, but little too much light upwards instead of down. Both of the devices have light sensors. USB light seems to be on more than not. The USB ports are also on for an hour after you turn off the car. Coasters are somewhat of the opposite and seem to turn off too often. Give them a tap and they turn on though. I'll try them out for a while and see how it goes. Coasters were $10 or so and USB was $11. Oddly enough you can get the 1-2' strip LEDs (4 in package) for less with a remote, but you need to wire it up or like the below use a USB port.
