Yes he does and mostly around town we don't have many 100+mile highway drives often. I mean the combined is what 14? 15? People get 26+ mpg with their diesel, most of the time I am at 20 - 22. Sure I can hit 30+ on the instrument but real mpg for me is much lower.

But that is what he tells me it is not my truck but I see no reason for him to make it up.
Who buys a 500+hp truck that will take speed bumps at 65mph and drives it gently? Cruising freeways at 65mph? Around here, standard freeway speed is 80+. My 5.7L ram only averages 15 mpg. Sure you can hypermile anything and get better fuel economy, but drive it like it was intended and you'll see closer to 10mpg than 20.

Before and after.
So after a long search, and an offer so good I couldn’t refuse it, I ended up purchasing a ram limited as my daily driver. I loved every minute of what the Jeep brought into my life. It was a perfect way to heal, and find happiness in remote areas. I plan to remain here on the forum and provide technical support and insight. Looking forward to 2028, maybe we will all get lucky and Jeep will give us another fun machine. Thanks for all the help!

Congrats! Love my 1500 limited. Very useful as an actual truck. Just drove it 2700 miles over four days - I couldn't have asked for more.

My buddy had a 6.2 supercab raptor. He drove the hell out of that thing off road and daily driving carrying pallets of metal parts. At almost 100k miles he sold it, quickly, to a dealership, for $33k (paid $50kish). And this a couple years befor the pandemic.

basically, they have insane resale value

I was in similar situation looking for a truck ended up getting a new to me tundra and modifying accordingly. Fox coilovers, supercharger etc. Still cheaper than a raptor or trx and reliable. But if purchasing new and not wanting to build out those are the way to go.

I had a Gladiator Ecodiesel for a while. Just wasn’t quite big enough for my needs. Great truck and loved the mileage. I went with one of the new ZR2’s. Would love to have had a Raptor or TRX but with the 392 in the garage wallet was already hurting.

If you are getting a Raptor sure running cost is an issue? 10-12 mpg.
I bought my Raptor in Maine and my wife and I put about 3200 miles on it getting it home. Almost all highway, with about 300 pounds of rock salt in the bed plus our luggage. We averaged 18.1 mpg. That’s with lots of miles at 85 mph, very few miles under 65, several mountain ranges, and some moderate little hills out east.

When I got home, after a few squishy trips towing a small 6500 pound boat, I put Icon springs in the rear and Eibach springs up front. Together they lifted the truck about 1.5” and leveled it. After that my combined fuel economy has been consistently between 14.5 and 15 mpg, but we never drive i5 for fuel economy. It’s too much fun for that, but no amount of hot-rodding would drop the economy to 12 mpg. If you’re hearing reports of 10-12 mpg that must be the Raptor R — the 700+ hp model.
