Considering 4xe - help

It costs me about $1.90/ charge which gets me 20-25 electric miles depending on the time of year/outside temps. A gallon of gas is like $3.60 for me for similar mileage, so as long as my charge cost is cheaper than the gas, it's worth it. Not going to rake in the savings but I like the way the electric drives for my commuting.

I figured that mine costs a little over $2 to charge fully. I don't fully charge every day and I do have a L2 charger so it will finish in about 2 hours.

I work from home, but if I had to commute to work and they had a charger there, that would be even better. My town is just starting to get more chargers. They are in odd places, like at Mcdonald's and dealerships. Not exactly in high-traffic areas, like Wal-Mart, Kroger or the mall where folks would ideally spend more time shopping.

Went from a Corvette Z06 (C7) to 4xe Rubicon. They are definitely on opposite ends of the handling spectrum, but I love the 4xe. Also have a Ram 3500 and a Cherokee THE. I don’t care to drive the truck even though it’s an amazing truck (Cummins/Asin). The Jeep is fun to drive and does amazing things on rocks.

My Commute is 4 miles per way, 3x a week. Im not all that concerned with that. I can plug in nightly so also not too concerned, either., I do miss my wrangler and my Ram is a pig

That sounds like a 4xe is right for you.

Just be warned, if you take any long distance trips with your 4xe, your MPG is going to be worse than a cowboy with crotch rot!

Nobody should be buying any Wrangler with any engine configuration if they want good MPG on long-distance trips. That said, my 4xe gets fine highway MPG -- right along the range folks here post with their 2.0L Wranglers. In good weather at reasonable speeds I do roughly 22 MPG on the highway. In the winter in bad weather I'm more like 18. That's just driving a Wrangler.

I can get 21 MPGs with my eyes closed. I average 23 MPGs. But I also like hitting that skinny pedal. When I'm actually trying to get good mileage, I average about 28 MPGs, wintertime included. The highest I've ever gotten is 33.4 MPGs, though it was a real hassle to get that high.

Honestly I idle my Wrangler way too much. As long as you're not idling the EcoDiesel too much, you can probably average 26 mpg.

6 months after I got my Wrangler, I went from Dallas to San Antonio and back and only filled up once. I averaged 28 mpg. That was just doing the speed limit, with four adults, and two dogs, and a cargo space full of luggage.

But obviously for local driving, the 4xe the way to go

the only concern I have is sometimes at stoplights it seems like the engine wants to key over on its own it’s almost like it’s confused whether it should be in electric or gas mode. It’ll just continue to do so until i keep moving or I cycle the key.
Anyone else experiencing this. It’s a clunk. Not a full crank. Almost like the engine is being bumped.

Nope, haven't ever had this happen. When the engine shuts off coasting or at a stop, it is fully "off," never any noise or vibration or indications that it's turning over or attempting to crank.

That $7500 is enough money to pay for something like 35,000 miles worth of gas, even if I never plug in the 4xe (which I do).

That's crazy! Yeah the 4xe is definitely not a bad vehicle at all! Definitely works more for some people than others for sure. I live out in semi rural Texas. If you saw the area I lived in you'd probably say it was very rural, but to me it's not that rural. It definitely can get more rural than it is here!

That being said, pretty much everything worthwhile is 20 to 40 minute drive from my house, and also it helps that in Texas diesel prices are still under $4 a gallon, and also no state emissions testing for diesel vehicles.

Again the 4xe is a great vehicle and honestly a really solid drivetrain from what I can tell, it's just not for everybody.

Yeah and they added that 7500 to the cost of the Jeep to start with. So no deal in my opinion. I paid 10k less for Rubicon diesel than I would have for the Rubicon 4xe.

Have they? I don't know, that might be the case now with all the price increases. I thought the diesel version had a $4k premium over the gas version. When I purchased my 4xe in Apr 2022, it was $800 more than an equally equipped Rubicon when factoring in the tax credit. If you purchased before me, the 4xe was cheaper than the same ICE version, at early release it was more than $2k cheaper.

In the end, I paid $800 more for much more capability, and complexity of course. I've easily made that back in fuel savings by now.

Was 6000 dollars with upgraded transmission. But subtract the 2500 for the auto that you pay anyway.

But when I purchased it the Rubicon 4xe was still about 10k more, it had other upgrades that you get with your 4xe though that are not standard on the other Rubicons.

lmao buddy give it a rest. How many threads do you need to dive bomb into shi-talking the 4xe acting like the numbers actually support your argument? This just isn't true. So many people have explained to you how the tax credits work and how you can save money compared to other models by leasing a 4xe.

It's not always that cut and dry. I didn't care when I bought mine but the tax credit and residuals(at the time) meant it leased far better(about $75/month) than a $10K less diesel.
