  1. Lease numbers on 2024 4xe (Rubicon X) - seems a little off

Yep! Well, kinda. A "down payment" on a lease isn't particularly smart because you're loading a bunch of money onto the front of the deal ... just to make yourself feel better, and no other reason. If the car is involved in a crash and deemed a total loss, you lose any money you've paid...
  2. Lease numbers on 2024 4xe (Rubicon X) - seems a little off

It's high, but it's not crazy ... that is a big MSRP. idk why there's an expectation of $1000 down here; you shouldn't be putting anything down on a lease, especially when the payment is already so reasonable because of the massive incentive + trade-in. Should be doing $0 down $0 drive-off and...
  3. Leasing a 2024 Sahara 4xe. Need advice

There's little reason to trade in your vehicle except for convenience. Yes trading in gets you a break on the sales tax you pay on the new lease/purchase, but for this sort of a lease the tax bill won't be huge to begin with. If you care about maximizing your money, consider selling your current...
  4. Why Not to Get Sky One Touch Roof?

I don't think the 60 mph thing is a hard guarantee/limitation. I've had my SOT refuse to open or close at speeds well under 60. It definitely takes into account the wind, too, and stops operation if there's too much resistance. Mine wouldn't open driving roughly 45 mph on a windy day last week.
  5. Why Not to Get Sky One Touch Roof?

The biggest disadvantage is cost, honestly. If you don't mind the $, it's an amazing top option. After driving with a hard top a few times you'll realize you won't take off the panels nearly as often as you think you will -- they're a pain to store if you have anything else in the truck, and the...
  6. Considering 4xe - help

It kinda felt like they really overextended themselves early on with very good MFs and high residuals on 4xes, and were struggling to meet demand. Seems like they finally realized they don’t need to incentivize them THAT hard to hit quotas. They likely hit the point where they started more...
  7. Considering 4xe - help

Some of us have great credit and qualified for the base Money Factor through Chrysler Cap. The rent charge was very low. People should always check and negotiate the Money Factor, just like they do with a purchase -- nothing new with CCAP or new today. I realize rates are generally much higher...
  8. Blind Spot monitoring

BSM is useful particularly if you're going to hand your truck to a kid or a spouse who isn't familiar with the size or driving "dynamics" of a Wrangler ... but otherwise, not a huge deal. I like the peace of mind, but the Wrangler doesn't exactly have blind spots so it's quite easy to check your...
  9. How long should a charge last?

Regenerative braking. That's that drag you feel when you let off the gas, it's using the electric motor to slow the car down instead of the brakes, putting charge back into the battery. When you use the "max regen" button (bottom left corner of the center stack buttons), it makes that regen even...
  10. "Caution: Tow Truck Ahead"

We drive in NYC, so our dash screen is lit up with this message constantly. It's rarely useful.
  11. How long should a charge last?

The gauge is generally accurate. I get about ~20-24 miles out of a charge, depending on speed. If there's anything approaching highway speed I'd expect to total about 15 miles of range. When the weather gets chilly the range goes down a bit.
  12. Justifying a NYC Jeep

Yup! 8% off those monthly prices is notable. Also, always go into the garages and inquire about pricing. The price they post on the sign is going to be 10-30% higher than what they'll actually take if you make them an offer -- particularly if you want to sign up for 6 or 12 months. I used to be...
  13. 2024 Rubicon 4xe 36/12K lease

As I mentioned above, check the leasing bank being offered by the dealer(s). If you lease through Chrysler Capital (as most recommend you do), you'll get 10,000 miles/year at a minimum. And if you're doing a one-pay lease anyway, and you intend to buy the car at the end, your residual value...
  14. 2024 Rubicon 4xe 36/12K lease

That lease must be from a 3rd party bank, not directly from Jeep. Chrysler Capital (the Jeep bank) has a minimum lease term of 10,000 miles/year. I would recommend everyone use Chrysler Capital unless they can get a stellar deal through a different bank. Chrysler Cap allows 3rd party lease...
  15. 2024 Rubicon 4xe 36/12K lease

Yes. The easiest way to take advantage of the $7500 tax credit is to get it applied to your lease, and buy out the lease to realize that equity. The question of when you buy out the lease depends on your personal financial situation. The best thing you can do is actually do a one-pay lease...
  16. 2023 4Xe Lease - What price should I be targeting?

This is all strong info. There's A LOT of research to be done, but ultimately it's all manageable and there's no shortage of good brokers and dealers who can get you into a 4xe at a very reasonable price. I'd add again that starting with a good purchase price is very important -- don't let...
  17. New England owners - 4xe

Funny, I saw multiple 4xes on the Cape last summer, and lots of non-4xe owners had questions about ours. We'll be up again in a week, on the lookout for those blue tow hooks on the beach!
  18. New England owners - 4xe

I'm in NYC and park in a garage, but I've not had any issues with using hybrid mode or entering FORM in the winter. Even on trips to Vermont where we park outside well under freezing. Yes mileage/range goes down when it's cold, but that's the case on the gas-only models as well. The only...
  19. 2024 4xe Willys 2.0 extremely loud and rough when taking over

When the engine kicks on for the first time, or after a long time off driving on electric, it can be quite loud/rough because jumps straight to a higher-than-usual RPM to warm up quickly. Firing an engine and putting load on it immediately is tough, so they have to run it rich and get it moving...
  20. DryRub or Similar Seat Cover

I looked at a lot of these for the same reason. Going on runs and hikes, and trips to the beach, I wanted to have a cover to toss on the leather seats to save them from the sweat and sunscreen. After being appalled by the prices and frankly not that impressed by the fabric choices, I ended up...
