Any update from the dealer about the clicking noise? I have the exact same noise. I havenā€™t tried tightening anything yet though. It seems to me that something is loose enough that when put under a significant enough load or amount of tension, it makes the click. Mine does not do it all the time, and predominately when the wheels are turned one direction or the other. Also, once the clicks happen, and you continue in the same trajectory and course without braking, it only clicks a few times and then stops. However, if you turn the wheel and put a different directional load on the front end, it clicks.

Update on my clicking problem. Little back story with my dealer. I asked them to check the balljoints for the clicking. They didnā€™t. I asked the following week again and they claimed they did and they were fine. They then said I needed a new Hub assembly so they ordered and replaced it. Problem wasnā€™t fixed. Then they said itā€™s a tie rod. Ordered and replaced and they said that fixed it. But when I asked for their work notes it said tierod did not fix the problem. And their notes said they took apart the knuckle and adjusted the balljoints and that fixed the problem. What I asked to be checked from the beginning. So my problem was both driver and passenger balljoints as was another forum member. Only been a few hours since getting the Jeep back but I havenā€™t heard the clicking. Make sure they actually check what they claim they are.

Last night I took the front tires off and went around checking all the bolts/nuts. I took the cotter pin out of the driver's ball joint, put a socket on the nut and while I was tightening it I could hear the EXACT same clicking sound it was making when I would drive it. I figured this had to be it! Once I had tightened it enough it stopped clicking.
I snugged it down good but haven't had it back on the road yet. I'll be driving it to the mountains today so I'm sure I'll know if it worked or not after this weekend.
BTW, there is a very simple way to know if they adjust the ball joint nut. Look at the cotter pin, if it looks perfect and identical to the other cotter pins on the front end then chances are they didn't touch it. I reused cotter pin is very obvious and one put on by a tech at the dealership will not look like the factory ones.

Looks like Sunday Iā€™ll be taking my wheel off and tightening up the ball joint nut as well. Hopefully this solves the issues we all seem to be having.

Appointment set up for 8AM at the dealership, I'll let you know what they say about mine. Sounds like we all have the same issues. Good luck everyone.
Hey Command Line RC,

Keep us updated on your dealer visit. As you may have seen throughout the thread, our team is available via private message and would be glad to help in any way we can.

Mine is at the dealership now. They may call me later today but sounds like it'll be tomorrow. He mentioned this part is the first they've done so they weren't exaclty sure how long it would take but they did go above and beyond and get me a rental which I appreciate. I'm not driving a Renegade which is quite the change from a Wrangler on 35's haha.

I'll post more when I get it back.

Well just picked up my JLU after several days of service work, I think it sat a lot but I need to move on.

I want to thank all the guys here that did a lot of the leg work for me, here is one of several pages for service but according to the tech notes he found the ball joints not torqued to spec, I actually showed the service manger the vid that @Jason posted ( see post 31) and he said he would show the tech, well after checking all the front end stuff they reported the castle nuts not torqued to spec or I was at least told that and itā€™s listed on the ticket, I did look at the cotter pins when I got home and they appear to be new and only bent once so they either used new cotter pins or told me a bedtime story but I donā€™t here the clicking so I am going to say itā€™s fixed for now.

Thanks guys and especially Jason for posting the vid, I am hoping this problem is solved.

So here is mine. I am going to the dealer Monday for another issue so I will add this on. Hopefully they can get it handled. Only hear it at low speeds.
This is the exact as mine. My dealer is still diagnosing and I emailed him a link to this thread and how some have head success with the ball joint.

Glad it helped, mine is still sitting and waiting at the dealership. I am hoping this solves my problem as well. Although I have to wonder how so many of these have loosened? Something with the production run? Mine was built in late April.

Awesome news that you were able to diagnose, replicate and then fix the problem!

What is the factory torque spec?

My Rubicon is doing the exact same thing, that clicking is driving me insane. Mine is 100% stock does at low speed left or right turning. What was your fix from the dealer??

As you can see from my service ticket the tech advised the wheels were removed and then the cotter pins removed and castle nuts were torqued to spec and then all put back, I did inspect the cotter pins after service and they appear new as it they donā€™t appear to be the old ones removed and reinstalled.

I washed it last night so when backing out of the garage and pulling forward I turned the wheel slowly as well was going backwards/forwards and did not hear the clicking so I am hopeing itā€™s been corrected.

I had this same issue. When rolling or moving slowly there was a loud clicking if I turned left. I saw on an earlier post someone mentioned the ball joints so I let the dealership know when I dropped it off for service. Sure enough that's exactly what it was. I've included a picture from the ticket. Hope this helps!
