Not entirely a bad idea!!! Actually it may give me some flexibility in kicking stuff up.
I just threw the catalogs away but either Quadratec or Extreme Terrain has tube bumpers now. Black, not chrome. But get them chromed and that's definitely old school.

I noticed the black ones too this morning in an email which made post this today. On just about every other color black looks awesome but in this Ocean Blue Metallic either chrome or some metal color is required.

Chrome is out of style, and that's probably why I want it. Here's the look I'm going for. Not a Sahara trying to be a Rubicon, but a Sahara being a Sahara properly. I feel like those gorgeous polished aluminum wheels are writing checks that that cheap silver paint on the grill can't cash.

FWIW: Traditional chrome plating won't work on the grill, since it is plastic. The process for chroming plastic is called "vacuum metalizing".

I hate chrome, I've already set about removing as much of it as possible and I don't even have the Jeep yet. I bought the MOPAR unpainted black grille insert and the dealer is going to install it for free when my Rubi arrives. That being said, if chrome is your thing I've seen several options. I know several manufacturers offer stainless rock rails that can be polished to a bright sheen. There are also several chrome step bars available if you're not that into off-roading and you don't need true rails. I'm fairly certain I've seen a chrome grille somewhere also.

My thoughts...
If you're going chrome old school, then go all the way...
Chrome round off road lights, chrome wheels either spokes or phone dial style, lose the plastic/paint on the roll bar-chrome that sucker.
Chrome tube steps & bumpers, grill too.
Maybe even a chrome louver panel for the hood.

The more I am thinking about it I may do the whole thing. I’ve decided that wheels/bumpers/sidesteps will be polished at least. I live the idea of the roll bar on a JL being chrome too. Might be a bit of a stretch right now but it’s got me thinking.

Maybe you could find who makes the chrome parts that you’re looking for on a JK and make inquiries with them as to if/when they’ll have JL parts forthcoming.
It may come down to this. Thanks for the idea.

You have the perfect color for some chrome accents, little here and there will make that blue pop. For the naysayers, everything comes full circle, who would have thought dads old black faded rims would be the new mat-black?
