I used these Gorilla nuts and then bought a small pack of 4 that came with a second key which I wanted for my home tool box (I left the other in the Jeep) The kit I bought comes with 20 nuts and I wanted another 3 for the spare.
I'm sure someone has pointed this out elsewhere, but I will go ahead and regurgitate it: you are aware that if you do any kind of off-roading with these and damage your wheel or the lugs it will take a tremendous amount more effort to remove them and swap out the spare, right? I only mention this because this is what I was told when I proposed buying/using just a single lock set.

Manufacturer's are in a no win situation - no one wants to pay more for a vehicle - everyone wants a bigger paycheck and on and on and on. So the vehicle is built to a "standard" and then we are free to waste as much money as we want to bring it to the gold standard if that's your desire. Powder coating may not be your best option for an off-road rim - but again - to each his own...

I'm not going to spend a penny on the wheels. Just brought up a concern for the total cost of vehicle and expectations. It's ok. I can live with it. I have a friend who owns a PC shop. Until the wheels start looking crappy, it will do. They "look" nice from a few feet away.

You are correct, that’s why we should have lowered expectations whenever we buy something, The whole world is in a shit pile, quality everywhere is plummeting, and this is only more of “the new normal”. It is what it is.

I'm far more triggered by the "beadlock capable" wheels... when they cannot provide the actual beadlock rings. Waiting in backorder limbo for months. I thought their astronomical pricing for a metal ring and some bolts was bad, but they've had my $800 for months and still no estimated shipping date.
I thought I read something about an aftermarket company making those.

I'm pretty sure every vehicle I've owned with oem aluminum wheels are coated in this way.

FWIW, I've noticed the same thing on all 3 of ours, and all 3 have different factory wheels. Paint missing in the bottom of the lug nut wells. Not saying it's right, just common.

If it really bothers you, why not cover up the unused holes with extra lug nuts?
These lug nuts are attached finger-tight with BMW lug bolts (M14-1.5)

If you're wondering why I have three locking lug nuts on the spare...well, it's kind of a joke. My ProComp 69 wheels literally cost $80 each off eBay. They're not fancy, but pretty light, and so cheap, I don't think anyone would bother with them. When I bought my Jeep, the locking lug nuts were the one dealer-installed thing I could not haggle out of paying for and they cost $200. So I use them. To get my money's worth.

There aren't any threads to put a nut on the other two. Yesterday I mixed wheel paint that was a tad lighter with black paint and used one of my wife's makeup brushes to touch it up. Perfect match and it just takes your eyes off the shiny silver. (I used brake cleaner to clean her brush and put it back in the bathroom unnoticed ;) ). She's been needing some exfoliator so the residual brake cleaner mixed with her retinol will do the trick. She'll thank me later
