Returning from a trip to the NC Mountains a few weeks ago my check engine light came on. Checked it with my code reader at home which showed no codes.

Had auto zone check it, with several different readers, same results. I know for a fact my code reader at home works on my Jeep as it’s been used before. Hoping to get into the dealership in the next few weeks.

2023 JLUR XR 3.6 e-torque. 32,000 miles. Jeep is running fine with nothing noticeable out of the ordinary. In the short term, anyone have a clue?

I don’t drive it but once a week so my initial thought was the battery was dying.

Disconnecting the battery can sometimes clear a false CEL.

Disconnect the battery for about 5 minutes. Came back upon restart. Maybe leave it disconnected longer?

Think a failing battery can also cause a bunch of random check engine lights, so that might be something to test and/or replace.

Not 100% sure how reliable the voltage read-out on the center cluster is, especially for the eTorque, but for my '23 v6 eTorque, after letting it sit overnight, then pressing the "run" button once (without foot on brake) has recently been showing ~12.2 to 12.5V. Really no idea if that's an accurate reading from the 12V battery by itself or just a reading from the 48-to-12V converter.

The OEM 12V AGM batteries are known to not last very long and probably more so if not driven regularly.

Came home about two hours ago after driving around for about 2 hours. Battery is sitting at 12.2 volts. It will be interesting to see where it’s at in the morning.

My neighbor told me this. He said wait an hour.

Also 3 years ago my year old Buick had every warning light possible including CEL come on. They replaced the battery and all was fine.

Your code reader doesn’t work. Autozone’s code reader doesn’t work.

Not on whatever code is currently present. My reader has worked on my Jeep in the past which is odd.

Sunday morning the gauge was showing the battery at 11.8 after sitting overnight. I’ll probably replace the battery just to rule that out. However that seems like the most likely culprit.

Yep, Zack. I'm pretty sure no good battery should be showing 11.8 after sitting overnight. Put in a high quality H7, and you'll be good.

Jeep sat nearly 24 hours without a battery which has now been replaced with a brand new H7 battery.

CEL came back on shortly after moving it in the driveway, OBD reader still shows nothing.

I’m not trying to be rude, but it is the actual check engine light on, right? You’d be surprised how often I hear this.
