All installed, works great!!!

The mic mount was really easy to install. The instructions state that you have to pry open the Hvac Plastic and you would think so but all I did was push down on the top of the plastic right next to the grab bar and it popped open. Push down and out on it.

The blemish you see on the antenna mount is actually a reflection from the antenna base.
Just ordered my kit and sent the link to a few buddies with JLs. Thanks for the pics. Helped win me over to this instead of the Rugged Ridge FM/CB mount kit.

Hopefully I'll actually get my JL delivered soon. . .

Nice. I've got my bracket and antenna installed and my coax neatly tucked over the amp housing and the plastic trim along the floor. I just need to wire up the Cobra 75, but I'm still on the fence about location. I just don't want my CB up near the front of the dash. I simply don't use it enough to warrant having it there. I'm still thinking of putting it down low as shown in my "test" photo.

Thanks!

Yeah that spot in your test shot is a good one!

Until we have more aftermarket antenna mount choices for the JL, here is my solution.
A 15” trucker rubber duck antenna hidden behind the canvas.
Good enough to communicate in close proximity, which is mostly what I need it for.

Just as an update, I tested this setup last week in Moab.
Works very well for car-to-car communication within a range of up to 1/2 mile. Better for cars behind you than cars in front of you.

I believe the antenna position in the back, anchored near the spare - while popular - is fundamentally flawed, because the bottom 2' of the antenna is blocked by the chassis. I am waiting for options to anchor the antenna in the front of the car.

Its for alignment of the gate. It holds the gate up.
When you remove bolts the gate tends to bend downward.
Ok, so this means to wedge the cardboard under the tailgate without opening it, right? I'm installing mine here in a few minutes and just want to be sure of how to do it without screwing up the alignment of the gate.

I didn't understand this part, either. I didn't even bother. If you've got the spare off already, you should be fine unbolting the two top torx off that bracket so long as the gate remains closed.

It may have just been an extra consideration based off the instructions when installing the reinforcement carrier for the JK.

Crayon mark a line across both door and body. After you replace bolts check you have the 2 lines matching. then tighten. The cardboard helps hold the door up when you remove the bolts.

Done!

Ok, I'm guessing the nearest grommet is the hole through which to run the antenna cable?

Oops, I guess not. Ok, where do you run the cable? Through the vent?

Nevermind....that's what I did. I've got the antenna cable run all the way through the trim to underneath the front seat, where I'll mount the box for the CB. Now I've got to find those darned powered wires under the passenger footwell. Once located, this thing will be a breeze.

I still have to figure out how to get the very rear quarter trim, behind the subwoofer, off without damaging the tailgate seal or the plastic. Then I can conceal the last 1 foot of antenna wire.

There's a single T20 torx screw holding it in on the left side of the subwoofer. Unscrew that. Pop off the plastic cover where the seatbelt feeds down into that trim. Then start pulling. Everything else is plastic clips. Pull towards you, keeping it as straight as you can. Don't try to pull it at an angle. It'll come off pretty easy.

I think there's a video on YouTube of a guy pulling all this stuff apart to apply bedliner to the tub, but really it's just that one screw that secures it all.

Great! Thanks! I'll be pretty happy if I can get that one bit of wire hidden.

Now, I still can't find the :swear: powered wires/aux button wire bundle under the passenger footwell. I don't know why these had to be hidden or camoflaged the way they are.

It's run from the right side of the footwell to the left, then folded and back towards the right. It's weird, but look for that and you'll find it.

I'm wiring up my CB right now, too.
