I don’t get step one in the instructions for the Cool Tech Mount; Fold 3-4 Pieces of cardboard and evenly space them in the gap between the bottom of the tailgate and the body?

Is this for extra support of the tailgate?
Its for alignment of the gate. It holds the gate up.
When you remove bolts the gate tends to bend downward.

I have the same setup coming. I will install then mask out the surrounding areas and paint the bracket on the jeep with rustoleum.
This way I don't have to worry about contact area. The paint area is so little that the mist won't effect anything if you cover up the area.

The answer is finally here! Cool Tech LLC just released an all-in-one JL CB radio package. It has everything we need.

http://www.cooltechllc.com/wrangler-parts-accessories/110-jl-cb-all-in-one-kit.html

I had been buying the individual pieces from them, as they were released. They automatically converted my order over to the all-in-one kit and refunded me the difference in price between the all-in-one kit and the total for buying everything individually. Really awesome company to work with.
Awesome and thanks! Just ordered the mounting kit! Going with the Uniden Off-Road CMX760 though...

All installed, works great!!!

The mic mount was really easy to install. The instructions state that you have to pry open the Hvac Plastic and you would think so but all I did was push down on the top of the plastic right next to the grab bar and it popped open. Push down and out on it.

The blemish you see on the antenna mount is actually a reflection from the antenna base.

Did you get the 4 foot ant. I don't know which to get and if it really makes any difference.

I have the 4 foot and I’m thinking it will be better than the 3 foot especially for front reception and transmitting.

Yeah, I'll go with 4', for sure. Have you tried it out? How's the range?

I got the SWR down to 1.5

Didn’t really get a chance to test it out much as it’s Sunday and not many truckers in my area until tomorrow. I did talk to one trucker that was only 1 1/2 Miles away but he said the radio sounded Great! He sounded good as well.

Looks great! Where did you mount the box for the Cobra? I haven't had time to look to see how much room there is yet.

Thanks Rubidouxit, I actually have no idea what I mounted it to. I can’t fit under the dam dash to see what’s up there. I felt a smooth piece of metal and took some Velcro tape and mounted it to that.

I actually did the same thing with the vhf/uhf Radio I have; I mounted that under the seat with the Velcro tape. The sticky side of the Velcro actually sticks to the carpet very well. I though I could just use the hook side of the Velcro on the radio and have it stick to the carpet but the hooks don’t grab the carpet well and I needed to put the other part of the Velcro tape on the carpet; if that makes sense.

I deleted one of the pics as I looked like a FREAK in the reflection lol!!!! If anyone wants more pics or info let me know!

I just can't find any reviews, posts, or even discussions about it other than us talking about it here, regardless of its use on a JL.
I have the rugged ridge installed on my wife's JK. Works as advertised. We have no issues with FM or CB. We like it so much, I am planning on getting it for my JL.
