I purchased PN DAN10040651 and PN DAN10044799 from Northridge 4x4 last week and they had the wrong size bolts in both kits. I installed the rear cover with these bolts and noticed this as I tightened them up. 2 of the holes in my differential stripped as I tightened the provided bolts.

In addition to this they are 1/16” shorter than the factory bolts. This doesn’t make since because the cover is 1/4” thicker than the factory cover.

I am going to find some new bolts that are 1/4” longer than the factory bolts and I should be fine but this is disconcerting especially since it’s a Dana axle and I was installing a Dana diff cover.

The bolt on the left is the factory bolt, the bolt on the right is the ones provided with the Dana diff covers.

The bolts needed are M8x1.25 25MM. I ran a tap through the holes to clean them up and ordered these bolts online. That fixed me up.

Still disappointed with Dana Spicer's quality control on this.

My 6 month old dana diff covers have poor powder coat...several rust spots and jeep hasnt been driven alot or around salt and always garaged.

This is good info. Thanks for posting. I’m changing my diff oil soon and have been debating upgrading my diff covers. I was leaning toward these covers because like you said, Dana axle and Dana covers. This has me second guessing.

The company is letting me return my front diff cover due to the rust and buy a replacement. I think it was simply one bad apple and wouldn't avoid them bc of that. My rear cover is holding up fine.

I installed the Advantek covers a couple of months ago and didn't have any issues with the supplied bolts.
Same here. Only did the front, but the bolts were correct, and went in without issue.

I didn't do the rear cover because I don't like the idea of a nodular iron cover on the rear. The one thing iron is really good at is retaining heat.

This isn't a problem on the front, because you're only in 4WD for a comparatively short time, and usually going slow when you are.

The rear is engaged to move the vehicle at all times, including long trips at highway speeds. A good aluminum cover would be ideal here, as aluminum sheds heat VERY well.

I haven't yet found the ideal aluminium cover, so I've left the stock stamped steel one in place and went with a Metalcloak rear diff skid.

Speaking of defective hardware ,
Got some Rancho differential skid plates.
Just FYI the Rancho bolts are M8 1.25 x 30mm

Yeah, I installed the front cover with zero problems, so hopefully this is a very limited issue

Bought my rear advantek cover from Northridge4x4 a few weeks ago and instantly checked the bolts for correct size - they were correct. However, trying to tighten the bolts to spec (30 ft lbs, with a precision torque wrench) one of the bolts snapped off ...

We're finding conflicting info:
Official 2018+ Jeep OE torque spec for the diff cover bolts for the M186, M210, M220 is 30ft-lbs.
-The only difference listed is for the M186, they say torque to 12 ft-lbs, then torque to 30 ft-lbs.

Official Dana torque for the M210 is 28-33ft-lbs.

BUT as @missionale stated, recommended bolt torque vales for an 8.8 M8 bolt is lower.

I've reached out to Dana for clarification.
