So.. I’m new to the Jeep Wrangler World. I just got a JL 2018 Sport S. I was thinking of upgrading to bigger tires but I read that the axle on the sport isn’t strong enough for 37” tires and would slowly wear it down. If I have the “Dana 44HD Axle” upgrade does that make a difference? I’m not sure what the standard axle is on the sport.

You still have the weaker axle up front.

For automatics the standard is the D30 unless you got the Anti-spin. Anti-spin comes with the rear D44. As @Carlton mentioned, you still have a D30 in front.

Oh okay gotcha. Are 33” tires okay with the front axle being d30? Also, would 35” be okay on the front d30 if i didn’t do much off roading?

Yes you will be fine with either 33 or 35” tires.

And FYI: The majority of dealerships around Atlanta are all selling JL Sports/Saharas with 35 inch tires off of the lot.

33" tires would be good on ALL WHEELS for any 4 wheeling you want to do and help you learn !

The new M168 will do just fine wheeling a 35” tire and can hold up to a 37” with common sense wheeling
