So I used my IR thermometer this morning to see what was going on. The outside temp was 35 degrees. Got into the jeep the interior was 47 degrees. As the vehicle was warming temps went up as expected. I keep my heat at 68. The hottest temp I registered was 147. Once the vehicle was at temp the temp from the vents stated dropping. The lowest was 87. Now going from 147 to 87 it did feel like cold air. But the cabin said it was 68. So I guess it is working as designed.

I have a similar issue with mine. When I use the "auto" feature, I find it to be a few degrees too hot (in the winter), but that is okay because I set it at 68 and I am fine and it works. But any time I use it manually it blows HOT air till I set it to low, then it blows hot air for like 5 minutes, then gets very cold, then it seems to work "ok" if I set it to 68ish manually. The defroster seems to blow air so hot I can't put my hand up there no matter what temp I set it to.

Before the Jeep I had an 18 Mazda 3 and it had a an auto AC and stuff as well. I have found with both vehicles, regardless of how it was set, the cabin air was relative to the outside air. If it is cold outside no matter what the air coming out of the vents is a bit hotter - if it is hot outside the air coming out is always a bit cooler.

By the way, I never was able to get this fixed. Of course Jeep Service said "its working as intended" yea, ok. So it puts out 185 degree air as soon as you turn it on even set at 70 degrees. You can't even touch the louvers or it will burn your hand, then 20 minutes later, almost no heat coming out at all.

Sorry to hear this hasn't been resolved, robynE. When was the last time the dealer diagnosed this? If you'd like some assistance from our team, please send a private message.

Thanks Kate, I took it in about three months ago to check the heat. At this point though, I'm going to put it to the side as I have a 4xe on order. However, I'm somewhat expecting to have the same issue on the 2021 but hopefully not!
