Sure you can - that's what wood chippers are for.
Well, I don’t know about Stupid, that’s something that they can’t help.

Pedophiles, now that’s a legitimate “Off Label” use for wood chippers 😉

I had one tell me my warranty was void at 10k miles on one of my last Jeeps because I went "Off-Road".

I said, "But it's trail rated?" and pointed at the badge. 🤣

I had barely done very light trails and some sand dunes.

No. Never going through the fuse box. This whole shit started with the well meaning "Jeep Informer" putting out an Youtube video about doing it that way very early on on the JL's life, and then a bunch of other youtubers kept on putting out me too videos. It is an extremely risky way to do it, with endless possibilities bending pins, breaking clips and completely messing up/bricking your Jeep. The service manual calls for pulling the flare/liner and going through the wheel well.

I can only see one reason to touch the aux battery, and that is to permanently remove it to save some weight. The though of going through all this trouble to replace something that should never had been on the Jeep in the first place is baffling to me. When my started to get weak, I simply bypassed it for I don't know 2-3 min of work. Pull a fuse, pull and tape a cable from the negative terminal of the main battery. What can be simpler?

Once again, I stand corrected. I only did it this way when I removed mine when I replaced it with a Genesis dual battery set up. Maybe that's what I'm thinking.

Is the 2021, different?
Maybe the EcoDiesel is Different?

I have read several statements about “Going through the fuse box”, and when I replaced my batteries, I didn’t do anything with the fuse box, I removed the main battery, and the aux battery was underneath it.

Stupid design, but Jeep had already pegged the Stupid Meter by using two asymmetrical batteries anyway

Eco diesel is different main sits on top of aux. I had removing and installing both batteries on my 2020 ecodiesel down to 10 minutes with all the issues I chased after the auxillary battery died.

On my JL diesel, all I have to do to access the aux battery is remove the main battery and the aux battery is directly underneath. Very simple.

If the dealers were just higher technicians and managers, who actually know something about the vehicle their servicing and now I’m just looking some manual Things would be a lot better
At my dealer, the service manager used to work. There was a real Jeep guy. He owned them for his whole life. He knew all kinds of stuff about him and when you went in there with an issue, he was on it knew what to do. He went someplace else but I miss him

He didn't care that you talked to him that way, with the profanity?
Did you consider that he was just telling it to US like that because it was a funny way to put it?

I had zero thoughts that he actually said "go fix my fucking jeep" to them.

So I'm sitting in the waiting room at the dealer to get my aux battery checked and replaced under warranty. Service manager comes out and tells me they're going to have to charge me to take the aftermarket fender flare extensions off before they can get in the fender well to check the battery. I said what aftermarket extensions are you talking about and he said the ones you put on the outside of the fender flare. I said those aren't aftermarket, they come from the factory on the XR model. He says no they don't. When I was insistent that they do he said well I will have to go look that up. Just so happens there's a Rubicon XR sitting in the showroom. So I point and say right there is a Rubicon XR that has the same thing. Now go fix my fucking Jeep 😂
Makes me laugh how much effort they put into trying not to do what they are supposed to do. I’m hope the new bosses at Stellantis put a stop to the crooked dealers

Those fenders will come flying off once you leave the dealership.

I did not move on to a different dealership. Over the years I insisted on sticking with one particular service writer at the closest dealer. He knows that I know my stuff with 3 Jeeps. Relationships in business can smooth a lot of crap out.

Reason 94,322 that I only go to the dealer when absolutely necessary. I'm blessed to have a sales guy I really appreciate but that is as far as it goes.

I know you shouldn't attribute to malice what can be also attributed to stupidity, but just for the thought exercise...

Something as stupid as this might actually just be a service rep trying to get one over on you and squeeze more money out of you. Imagine how many people will just blindly respond "oh, ok" and pay for it. The worst that will happen to that service manager is he looks stupid to someone he clearly doesn't care about helping anyway, so why should it bother him? Best case for him, he gets more money out of you.

I don't think that's what happened here... but i bet that happens a lot these days.

so back to the xr flare extension, even if they were added later, they still have to drill or remove the same plastic rivet, right? Extension or not.
