It was originally a joke made by "unnecessary inventions".

He actually caught the guys stealing and selling his design since he was working on making this silly product real. When contacting a manufacturer, he confused them since they were already making it for someone else who was using his footage and images. After proving it was indeed him I think they let him exclusively use the tooling.

This has always been my low tech solution, in the military and living in Florida. 😁

This has to be a joke, a gag gift, a bachelor party gift, there is no way this can be real! I refuse to believe anyone in the world would order such a thing. There's no way, this is real!

Ladies, if you get into a man's vehicle and you see one of these, don't walk run in the other direction.

Back in the 60s and 70s, on luxury models, they use to build an a/c vent under the steering column for the same affect. It wasn’t just for men either.

Lol. One of my kids made something similar to this for their 5th grade project. My kids project was designed to heat and dry ski boots.

I have cooled seats in my Yukon. I wish my jeep had the feature on hot and humid days in Southern IL.

I mean, I haven’t seen a crotch vent in a vehicle since the 90’s. It was dope if you had good strong fan and cold ac.

I still miss the floor vents that flowed air into the footwells. The strength of the airflow depended on one's speed, as well as how far the knob was, or wasn't, extended. They were simple and remarkably effective...as were vent windows. Both features, but especially the former, provided a remarkable amount of fresh air for the interior, even when it was raining.

New doesn't always mean better. Old doesn't always mean obsolete.

Saw something like this on TFL once. They had a guy running a trail with their Bronco in his JL. He had tubing connected to the vents and running under his coat to keep him warm. Says he refuses to run with a top, even in winter. His solution was to route the heating vent into his coat for warmth.

but it wasn’t going into his pants…

Although odd at face value, when taking the broad view, it's really not so far out in left field. For many years, motorcyclists like myself have used heated gear to extend the riding season. There are considerable parallels:

Heated steering wheel? Heated grips and/or heated gloves and/or purpose-built handguards (I use all three).
Heated seats? Heated saddle.
Heated jacket (via dashboard vent)? Electric liners; this being what I currently wear.
