Cabin air filter confusion

I also ordered the 68364653AA Mopar cabin air filter ($18 + shipping) and was surprised when I got just 1/2 filter. Instead of ordering another 1/2, I used the WIX 10371 suggestion to search Amazon and ended up buying the GaeaAuto GA68301863AA version because it had the quickest delivery. It might not be the highest quality, but it fits perfectly and I got two full size filters for $20 (i.e. equivalent to 4 half-filters). I just had to squeeze a little more to get it into the slot.

In the first image you can see the OEM filters on the left and the relative size of the new filter on the right. To match the size, the pleats are running 90, but I don't think the air cares.

In this image, the new filter is sitting directly over the two OEM filters, and it appears to be the same exact size combined. To the right is the "1/2" filter I ordered.

This is the new filter in the cabin filter slot. Looks like a perfect fit.

I am going to change mine ASAP. Might I presume you had to bend the new one quite a bit to get it to fit into the slot since it is a one piece? If so, were there any issues? Thx! I can tell you that I went to Advance Auto to get a cabin filter and the part number in their book won't fit my 3.6. The guy at the counter looked it up and gave me the right one. One piece. The one that is in their book on the rack wouldn't fit right even if I bought 2 of them.

I have to bend mine a little to get it in the space but it's not a big deal. If the frame were any harder it might be but the one I got had a pretty pliable frame and popped right in after I got the far passenger side edge in the housing.

I have about 25,000 miles and 4 years on mine. Not a lot of off-road, and almost none behind another vehicle in dusty conditions. Still, I figure it's time to change it.

I've been using the K&N cabin air filters for a while, fit is perfect and I just take them out to clean twice a year. #VF2064. 2 filters are in the package, Price seems to have increased since I got mine, but then everything else has too.

I am overdue! I live on dirt, wheel in very dusty conditions 2-3x/year. I will start after this change (if these work as I think they will) 2x/year OR after wheeling and eating dust all day

I know the filter makers have always opposed blowing out a filter with compressed air, whether an engine filter or cabin filter. I think there's some fiction and truth to cautions about that. But for your situation, I would definitely do it often and sure, change it out when there's some visible accumulation that doesn't easily blow off or degradation.

I will post some pics of my negligence once I change it. I am always good w/ my engine filters though.

As I mentioned in the original post, the GaeaAuto item is two filters, and you only need one. In other words, they are twice the size of the OEM filter, and you get one for now and a spare when your wife starts complaining of her allergies in the spring.

And no, it was not hard to bend it to make it fit. Push in on the side and it bends like an accordion. Fit it, release it, and it expands back to fill the slot.

Man I wish I would have seen this first. I have the 2021 3.0 Rubi eco-diesel and ordered both my engine air filter and cabin air filter from mopar last week. Received today, went to install and nearly went through the roof when I saw the single panel cabin filter in the box, which I reluctantly paid $22 for. Honestly I thought they made a mistake, who orders half a filter? The parts diagram on the mopar site does not mention anything about this issue. That all said this is my second Rubi, and my first had two side by sides as well, that was due to the limited space in front of the insert so you had to put one in and slide it over, then set the second one in. I had even checked the cabin filter before I ordered, never occured to me they would only send half of what I would need to complete the filter change. This means $44 for a paper filter, the engine filter was $33.64 and it has rubber seals, higher quality filtration, etc. Something is wrong here but truth be told I may just buy the one you show in the post and save half of this new filter for toiltet paper on the next Jeep trip. My new issue is noooone will understand this at Mopar, customer rep will read a scripted response at first, then maaaaybe for a moment understands, but only followed up with “just buy a second one.” This issue will be lost in space for eternity at Mopar. I was an optimist once upon a time, just no faith in anything anymore. Other than jeeping to get away from the herds. Got a chuckle out of “I dont trust Amazon”, same here! Ordered a head lamp that arrived today and all instructions were written by google translate.. wtf does “battery fail make two” mean? I digress, just feel this group can understand this frustration, ufff. Also loved ideas on just cleaning the current one (pretty dirty however), or cutting one to size. Thanks guys, more money lost in the pit for now. ??

I’ve never tried this but… A couple of people in the Jeep clubs here buy these and cut them to fit, and or cut to fit the washable ones. $20 and forever use supposedly.

The jl 2.0t has two cabin filters...they sit side by side.

Mine only have 1. Just changed it 2 days ago.

It’s either me or ? but I am confused about the cabin air filter for a 2021 3.0 Rubicon Unlimited.

I found part number 68364653AA on this forum as being the cabin air filter part number. Went to change it out and found out there are two of them. Paid $22 for one. $44 to replace the cabin air filter seems way too much.

I found a video on this forum from Northridge about changing the cabin filter and got the part number 68301863 off the video. It is a one piece filter, however it isn’t listed on the Northridge website. I did find it on Amazon and also a WIX 10371 part number, looks like it might fit, but I don’t always trust Amazon. There was nothing there about restrictions for non Diesel engines only. There was a comment that someone used this in a JLUD.

I looked on allmoparparts.com and it said that the 68301863 doesn’t fit my Jeep with the 3.0. it shows the 68364653 but it’s sold in qtys of 1 and doesn’t state that I need two.

is there a different cabin air filter based on engine type?

i couldn’t find a part number in the manual so any help anyone can provide I would greatly appreciate. Something a simple as replacing a cabin air filter shouldn’t be this hard or expensive.

How often do you replace your cabin filter? It’s a ’23, you must drive in some really dusty conditions if you already need to replace it.
