Relocating to Kuwait for work.
Enjoy; in my early years I did a 2 year tour in Kuwait, and then another 2 years in Saudi.

As a young single guy it was great - made a ton of cash that got the student loans paid and a nice start to my retirement portfolio.

Also made lots of friends that even 25 years later we still talk and meet up when nearby.

There is something different about friends you make in a foreign country that doesn't really like you being there - you become very close.

Is your Jeep going with? I always look at those Middle East jobs and always wonder about them… Just not sure, I also have zero military experience and makes me a little more nervous. But the pay is very tempting.
Was a contractor over there for a couple of years after I retired from the military. Pay is (really) good but couldn't never get used to the culture....and I love eating pig. Was very homesick.

I really think about doing it for a few years, as I could come back with enough to buy a house in cash and it really appears you can do so without spending much while working there; plus apparently not taxed much on the income.

It’s very tempting… Bust my ass for a few years, come back semiretired.

Yeah, no federal taxes (up to a certain amount). And for some reason (depending on the MOU between your company and the local government), part of of your pay (about 1/3rd) had to be deposited into one of their local banks, so that was always a PIA to transfer that money into your American bank account and there is so much red tape that governs "Middle Eastern Money" transfers.

I wasn’t aware of the local bank issue, hmm. I know some who done it and it’s seems like a fun adventure. But everyone of them did a year or two, all say the same thing. They don’t regret it, but wouldn’t do it again.

So, how does this work? They load it on a boat and you see it in a few months? Always been curious about it because most people will either sell or leave their vehicle here if relocating overseas.

Freaks me out a bit thinking about the Boat that just caught on fire and sank with a bunch ofcars from VW/ Audi/Lamborghini plus a bunch of other collector cars, supposedly.

Good luck. Stay safe.
