I feel like the Wrangler is unique in that people know and are by and large willing to accept the unpredictable nature of its reliability. This Jeep is the first I've ever owned (and first Wrangler I've even sat in) and I did my research before pulling the trigger. I understand there can be things that go wrong. This is true for any vehicle. EVERY vehicle.

Wranglers are more than just cars though.. I think buying a Wrangler is buying into a culture. It's buying into a family. It's a family that's far from perfect, but after taking a step back, it's a family that you love and appreciate regardless of the hardships. It's not like buying a Honda Civic and expecting to get 100k miles because 90% of the people who have one get there easily (unsubstantiated & broad assumption - I'm just playing off the stereotype), but it ends up blowing up in 20k miles and now you're wondering WTF happened and why you listened to them...

I read about the wind noise. I read about the steering issues. I read about the rust, the welding, this, that, the other... Everyone who is on a automobile forum is (hopefully) smart enough to have done some research about what they're going to buy and accept that bad things can and will happen. I hope they've read about the issues other people have had and decided if that's something they can live with. The door can fall off my Jeep tomorrow and I'll scratch my head wondering what happened (actually wasn't there a recall about this?), but I'll laugh it off and just chalk it up to a Jeep thing. I also understand there are anomalies too. The lemons. But that's not even close to a fair representation to the actual experience. Those are few and far between, and while I feel sorry for the people who have the misfortune of dealing with them, I don't necessarily agree that it's worth dumping an entire brand over. Again, those are the people who would act the same way regardless of what they purchased. It has nothing to do with Jeep. In fact, I've read just as many stories of FCA doing the right thing by people when faced with certain misfortune.

I think people who regret buying a Wrangler are the ones who were misinformed or bought it for the wrong reasons.
I got 250k+ on my civic when I had one. So, you’re correct there. Traded it in for a BMW and really it didn’t have any issues at the time.

After reading all the post about problems people are having with their JL, do you regret buying it?
I traded a 16 JK 2 door for a 18 JL 4 door. I like the looks of my new one better, it rides much better and I love the new auto transmission. I don’t like the auto start/stop , that’s really the only thing I don’t like about it. Some of the frame and steering issues people are having is kinda scary..
I had zero issues out of my JK.
What say you !!

No buyer's remorse here. Traded in my '09 JKR for my new '19 JLUR. It was initially tough to let go of my JK, but I'm absolutely loving my new JLUR.

Most everything on the Jeep can be modified..to include the auto start/stop feature. Disconnect the hood switch....buy a Tazer. Where there's a will, there's a way.

My wife's BMW has this feature...there IS a reason for the feature. You might now like it, but there is a reason for it. ;)

I must admit, I do have buyers remorse. I wish I would have gone with one of my other vehicle choices and just bought an older YJ/TJ, too.
What other vehicles made your short list? What was it about them that you're kinda missing now?

Worth nothing, I'm the genuinely interested conversationalist type of guy not the blindly arguing type.

Guilty.

I had a new '14 5.0 6MT for about 3 or 4 days. .
The shifter on the MT-82 is spring loaded, and i was not used to those. I found that if you try to force it into a gear (particularly 3rd), you would often hit the gates in between gears. If you sort of nudged it toward third, it would fall into place easily. This totally fixed the issue for me. I just wasnt used to this style of shifter. Later on a installed an aluminum shifter mount which took all of the wiggle out of the shifter and made it just about perfect.

My point is, most of the shifting issues were either i think caused by people not used to the style of shifter, or the crappy factory mount itself, not the MT-82. The fix for the factory mount was $100 and a couple of bolts.

Anway, this isnt a Mustang forum lol. My point is that although some vehicles have some rough edges sometimes, like you said dont let the doom and gloom of internet forums scare you off. Buy what you want, and if you have issues, do what you did and address them via the dealer. There are always lemon laws if things get really bad... but why deny yourself something because of someone elses problems or opinions.

So, today I had a really awesome chorizo burrito for breakfast and went out to lunch with some co-workers and had some chicken tortilla soup. Man it was good. The place also gives you this awesome cookie as part of your meal, it's oatmeal with chocolate chips and a hint of coconut. That cookie alone is enough to make me go back. They don't sell the cookies separately so there was this one time I wanted some cookies from them and ordered a salad and asked them to sub the salad for a handful of cookies instead. That was a wholesome lunch. For dinner, I just got some really good pizza at this local place and it really hit the spot. I also created a new playlist on Spotify and to answer your question no I don't have any regrets.
Whats on the spotify playlist?
Do you have any regrets about any of your song choices?

No regrets. The issues I have are more minor annoyances than problems.

The only one that bugs me is the steering, a little too wandering. My wife won't even drive it, even though it has improved with some miles on it, it still tends to wander, mostly just in a gentle curve, it's hard to just follow the curve, the Jeep either turns too much or not enough, so it's back and forth through a gentle curve.

Im not offroad expert by any means, but i would think this is a byproduct of large, fat tires with high sidewalls, very sensitive steering with a tight turn radius, and a bit of built in sloppiness in the steering, all of which i would think are desirable qualities for off-roading.
Cant wait to get in the dirt this spring.

Owned it since May. Getting my first windshield replaced Monday. Wednesday I have an appointment for a steering glitch that has happened only twice in 6000 miles. I’m sure they will just say we can’t duplicate the problem, I’m mainly taking it in so that it will be on record.
That said, no regrets at all. If I didn’t own this one right now, I’d be ordering tomorrow. Can’t imagine being without a Jeep anymore.

I love mine so far! Only 180 miles on it. Manual transmission. It is just freakin bad ass, and there is not another car like it on the road.

I wouldn't say I "regret" it. I do enjoy it. But my life changed quite a bit after buying my Jeep and what was going to become my weekend camper became my "drive 10 miles a week" garage queen and $50k bill because instead of moving to the PNW like was planned I wound up in Dallas and unfortunately have no desire to camp (or really even go outdoors) anywhere near here. I'm about that forest life.

I'll likely wind up selling it and giving it a try again in a few years. Just not sure it makes sense right now with how recently I bought it and what it'd sell for. This is a depressing post.

Mechanically, no regrets. I've had no problems, but I'm only at around 4k miles (bought in April).

Only regret is the color I chose (Black). Dealer had exactly what I wanted with exception of the color and that was gonna be custom order (long wait). Drove off the lot that day. So only a minor regret.

My regret is they made the jeep user friendly now. My wife hated the ride, noise, lack of refinement and stick in my jku. She's driven the new jlu 85% vs my 15%. Can't get her out of it. I'll fix her thouh, I'm waiting for the Gladiator diesel. She hates diesels.

I haven't had regrets. But I have only owned it a little over a week.

Right from the beginning of the 350 mile drive home from the dealer, I noted it was a lot of work to drive it. The steeing was requiring a lot of inputs. Back and forth. We only drove 2 hours the first night. But it was tiring the way it drove. The next morning, I took it to an alignment shop in the town we stayed overnight in. Caster was 4 1/2 degrees. Good. Damn close to on the spec. Toe-in was only about half of the nominal .112" spec. I had them put it on the nominal. Big improvement. Still, the steering system is tight and will not totally self-center. I think it's getting a bit better over the past few hundred miles. But I think the steering stabilizer is the culprit of being too tight.
