After reading all the post about problems people are having with their JL, do you regret buying it?
I traded a 16 JK 2 door for a 18 JL 4 door. I like the looks of my new one better, it rides much better and I love the new auto transmission. I don’t like the auto start/stop , that’s really the only thing I don’t like about it. Some of the frame and steering issues people are having is kinda scary..
I had zero issues out of my JK.
What say you !!

I had a 2003 Ford F350 with the 6.0 Diesel. All I read online were horror stories about how bad the 6.0 was, and that everyone was selling theirs at huge discounts because of how bad they were, how Ford was going to cancel the whole engine in weeks because it was such a huge problem.

Ever look at how many ambulances and fire trucks, not to mention service vehicles used the 6.0? I put 100,000 miles on that truck in 3 years, towing trailers, hauling gear, pulling UPS trucks out of ditches and following the ruts that gas trucks made in the middle of the New Mexico desert.

That truck never let me down, never had a single issue. I wouldn't have sold it until the second set of twins was born and I needed something that could fit everyone. My BIL still has that truck and it's doing fine.

Take everything you read with a grain of salt. Yes, there are issues. There are with every vehicle. You hear the worst here. Most people are out enjoying their Jeeps. Because they're running just fine.

So far so good here! :like:
A few little "growing pains" (it's my first Wrangler) but it is so far my favorite of all vehicles I've ever owned! :involve:

Like @OldBird said, it’s a forum, people have no where else to b!tch, so, they come here and all of their complaints are in ONE consolidated area, here.

If this isn’t the first automotive forum you’ve ever been a part of, let me tell you, take what people are complaining about with a grain of salt. If it’s not happening to you then why care? Of course, you can attempt to help diagnose an issue if you have knowledge, but, ultimately use this forum for knowledge and read the good things.

Have fun in your Jeep! Jeep by nature is a tough vehicle brand and the Wrangler is it’s bread a butter off-road, tough guy vehicle. As I’ve said before, this isn’t the first year Jeep has ever designed and built the Wrangler. Fiat has owned the brand since 2014 so that’s nothing new to the game.

At the end of the day, the JL is Jeeps most comfortable, stylish, tech savvy and capable model yet. It’s progression. You know how many people driving JK’s right now want your rig? The answer is nearly ALL of them whether they want to admit it or not. People in TJ’s and JK’s snap their necks EVERYTIME I drive by them. It’s the natural progression of the brand.

For the folks having issues with your JL’s I really do feel for you. I will help you in any way that I can if I have the knowledge on what you may be experiencing. But, don’t put a bad taste in everyone’s mouth you possibly can. It’s rude. Poor sportsmanship.

Enjoy your Jeep, don’t listen to the haters on here or anywhere.

I’m @ 2k miles and it’s been a blast so far.

We’ve had ours since early June! No regrets at all with just shy of 8000 miles. Only one problem so far, and that looks like it’s a rear main seal leaking. After it gets repaired from hail damage from July, (hood still on backorder) I’ll have the dealer take look at it.

First Jeep that we’ve ever owned and so far it’s really been a blast to drive, especially off road!

I really needed this thread, thanks! Mine hasn't arrived yet but after reading this forum obsessively for the past few months I've become nervous that I've bought a lemon without even taking delivery yet. I've compiled a huge list of "things to lookout for" when I pick it up, my wife said "why did you buy it if you're so worried". Well, I bought it because I have a Cherokee and wanted a "real" Jeep. I found this forum to learn more about the JL but somehow ignored the positive threads and dug deeper into the problems people were having, it becomes a case of confirmation bias. Am going to lighten up and spend some time in the Humour thread.

no regrets, and no problems here.

about 12k highway and offway miles; it's fun to have a vehicle you can do stuff to (changed the bumpers myself, etc etc). I've done a few upgrade-mods, but they feel more like personality mods than actual improvements to the vehicle.

auto stop/start is annoying, but it's not like Jeep is the only vehicle with it in it; give it a couple years and it will be in a larger number of vehicles.

and ya I agree - the forums is where people come to complain more often than not. read around long enough here and you'll see complaints about everything from "4 door inferior not-jeep jeeps", to automatic transmissions shouldn't be in a jeep, to power windows.

have there been issues? sure. even if my Jeep had been hit with them, I trust my dealer would take care of it. and I'd wind up in another Jeep (this was my first one)

the only thing I'd do different would be to get a Mojito color instead of the blue. other than that, this tonka toy has been a blast to drive.

I must admit, I do have buyers remorse. I wish I would have gone with one of my other vehicle choices and just bought an older YJ/TJ, too.

Owner’s forums always amplify the bad, not just this Jeep forum. “Do I have bad welds?”, “Will I get the death wobble?”, “Its the first year for this new engine”. It never ends. Get the Jeep!

Blew the motor up on my 15 JK so the JLU will have big shoes to fill if it wants to step up to that plate

After reading all the post about problems people are having with their JL, do you regret buying it?

EDIT - ... aaaaand my Jeep wont start. 2700Km on the clock and ESS/battery errors. I will remove this and take my words back when the dealer hands it back to me in working condition and it works for 1 month without issues! Im not giving up on my beloved Jeep, so ill still say no remorse for now! Lol
======================================

My JL is my 2nd favourite vehicle i've ever owned, next to my 5.0 Mustang.

When the 5.0 came out in 2011, people were screaming the end of the world was nigh with the MT-82 transmission. There was tons of talk about "gear lockouts" and transmissions grenading on people. This has proven over time to be a very tiny percentage of actual issues... there was even an investigation caused by the vocal complainers by the NHTSA into the issues which was subsequently dropped. Ford is still using the transmission today.
... and here i am in 2018 with a 2011 GT that has had zero issues, transmission or otherwise... and ive tracked the thing and not been gentle.

So when i heard about the Jeep issues i kept all of that in mind, and pulled the trigger anyway. Im only 1100 km in, but i feel that this is a very well built, solid vehicle... and i have no idea what anyone is talking about. Time will tell, but im not concerned whatsoever.

Oh and screw the people who are anti-4 door or anti auto trans... can i just get what I want please? This isnt a sportscar, 4 doors and auto is just fine and pretty much superior in *most* ways.
