2002 Jeep Wrangler 110K miles I6 manual, no A/C- I had a leak in the radiator and noticed that the coolant was brown muddy water. I replaced the radiator, thermostat, water-pump, radiator hoses and 1 heater core hose (All original). I back-flushed the heater core and flushed water through the engine block. Refilled with new coolant (orange), ran it for about 30 min, held temperature and no leaks. Went out next day to check coolant level in radiator and the muddy water/sludge is back. There is no white smoke out the back that I can tell. Oil looks normal, no milky appearance. I am at a lost as to what to do next? Any help would be great.

Blown head gasket? I’m not sure what your describing fits that problem, but it’s a possibility.

Nothing more than normal. I've read where oil can look milky is the coolant and oil are mixing and when I pulled the dipstick it looked normal.

What would be the best way to trouble shoot a blown head gasket?

A compression test, while not 100% accurate, is a good place to start. Google would know more than me.

Coolant + oil looks like chocolate milk. Any oil leaks on the outside of the engine?

There is evidence of oil leak on the outside of the engine block in the area of the dipstick, but the dipstick still looks normal

It's a 2002? Rust inside the engine block. Who cares. Flush it multiple more times and it will probably come back. Or just leave it.

Check at the oil filler cap. Often you will get milky foam around that.
Thanks. I'll check before and after I drive it today and see if I can see that.

Hoping it is that simple!

UPDATE: I did some recommended trouble shooting last night. I've got bubbles in the coolant in the radiator. So going to do some additional tests for possible head gasket leak.

IIRC, there's a specific gravity check of the coolant that should reveal a head gasket leak.
