Hey, me too! My bronco order went for over a year without even a time estimate, so I reached out to Granger about a Rubicon
I wonder if Ford cares that they’re loosing customers to their main rival largely due to the fact that they screwed up the allocation formula and did ill to a great dealership. If you do a time stamp reservation system, you better try as hard as possible to honor the order, otherwise what’s the point? And why penalize a good dealer for doing their job: selling vehicles.

I bought Ford stock years ago when they announced the return of the Bronco. I wanted to be able to say "Did I ever tell you about the time Ford bought me a Bronco?" Now the story has become: "Did I ever tell you about the time Ford bought me a Jeep Wrangler?" (and yes, it's true...the run up of Ford stock at the end of 2021 gave me enough profit to pay for the Wrangler).

This is why I ended up with Jeep. Constant delays and dealers wanting to charge markup well above MSRP.

I have a Bronco reservation with Granger as well, but I have a very long wait ahead of me so I took their offer of 4% below invoice on a 2022 Jeep. Two weeks ago I placed my order for a 2022 Wrangler 4xe Rubicon. I still really like the Bronco, but between the long wait, quality issues, increasing price, and poor fuel economy, I feel like I made the right decision going with the 4xe.

The below invoice pricing on top of the $10k in tax credits plus better combined fuel economy completely sealed the deal for me. Plus I should have it in 4-6 months. Felt like a no-brainer...

I’m not gonna lie to myself and pretend like the 4xe will get good fuel economy. But with my driving habits I’m pretty happy at the waaaay better mpg than the 2.3 in the Bronco (was getting ~16). Especially since we’re having talks about having to go back in the office.

I ordered a Bronco a long while ago and decided to wait it out until the chip debacle. They want to send vehicles with only safety critical chips and make good on the rest of the chips within a year of delivery. So you may get your bronco with the safety features but wait a year for all of your comfort features. Anyway they lost me there. My Bronco delivery was 5/15. Ordered a Willys yesterday, cancelled the Bronco order and will never look back.

You could have kept the Bronco order then flipped it for a nice profit while still waiting for your Jeep. I decided to keep my Bronco reservation to hold my place in line just to see what happens.

You are completely right. I thought of that but was concerned after reading the blogs it would create some issue. I also think they relatively have so few out there at this point there are a host of issues that will need correcting. You were smart to keep your reservation I felt like the whole experience was a roller coaster and I just decided no matter what I had to walk away. I am not built for ordering something the way I want and then being made to feel I should be lucky just to get one the way they want to give it to me. I do not regret walking away.

Congrats on joining the Jeep family.

This is the first time I’ve heard of anyone being introduced to Wranglers via a minivan.

Though, now that I’m thinking about it, my old pre-2012 JK did have a 3.8L minivan engine. So maybe you’re onto something…

It's because of the very stupid design. I don't like soft tops, but the operation of this one is particularly aggravating. The materials are rather nice, but there are too many weird qwerks to it.

I could never be okay with the way that soft top / rear tailgate opening
functions. Very wonky. That had to be a mistake didn't it?

I see a lot of Bronco's around here. In fact, just yesterday, I saw two brand new Broncos turning into the Terra Flex manufacturing plant (It's on my regular lunch bike route, right next to the Fox Shock headquarters). Terra Flex has the front parking lot filled with Wranglers with lifts and "Terra Flex" body wraps. Lot's of cool Jeeps, but no Broncos out front yet, I think what I saw may be an indication of wht they are working on. I don't care. Even though I like Ford in general (I have a 2013 150 XLT that's been amazing), I've seen enough wrinkled soft tops and heard enough bad Bronco news that I'm glad I got my stupid little 2020 Wrangler 2 Door 3.6 Auto Sport S. Lovin' it. ;)

Ford screwed them over big time. Changed the allocation formula and favored the large dealerships. They had way over 1k orders (maybe 2K) and were delivering 40 a month in 2021 and are at 10 a month now.
Sounds like what HD did to some of their dealers.

Every soft top Bronco I see has a wrinkled back side window. Poor fit?? It's so consistent on everyone I have seen it's almost like it's by design. Strange what grabs attention.
Whenever I see one on the road, I can't help thinking of this...
