Will hawk brake pads make any difference in stopping power?
I have 37" tires and rented a stock wrangler and when I got back in my jeep, I noticed a massive difference in stopping power.
I know I'll need a big brake kit down the road, but ordered hawk pads for the moment.

YES, pads are the stopping power.

EBC Pads are the best I have ever run and they have just come out with a new one for Jeeps.

I am going to order a set for my 2024 JLR-X and I have them on my F 450 Heavy Duty truck, makes a major difference and also ran them on my JKR. Great improvement!

You can play the brake pad game like I did for 6 months and $100s of dollars or you can bite bullet and install the Teraflex Delta brake kit
The factory brakes with 37s and any extra wight just will not stop under panic or sever braking situation

i've seen mention of the Delta pads being Tundras many times, but any idea what other applications the Delta Rotors are interchangeable with?
i wouldn't want to be stuck having to go back to exclusively Teraflex for Rotors all the time,..

PowerStop Z36 will help on a stock jeep like my wife's Rubicon
I have Teraflex Delta brake on my highly modified Willys with 37s and about 1200lbs extra wight
The Teraflex rotor are big and heavy and the 4 piston calipers use Toyota Tundra pads and incorporate anti knock back springs behind each piston giving you that superior brake pedal
If you want to do it one and forget it go with the Teraflex Delta brake
Because they use Toyota Tundra pads you also have the option of 100s different compounds and pad manufactures unlike most other Wrangler brake kits

Delta rotors are proprietary. The rears are configured to the JL drum parking brake and then have a 14"x 1.25" disk. The fronts are configured to fit the JL hub and again a 14"x 1.25" disk. They are specially designed to fit the JL. There is no other application ... except the JK, for which they convert the OEM brakes to a big brake just like the JL.

I mean, how many rotors are you expecting to go through?

Hopefully with Teraflex being bought out, they don’t decide to discontinue them like they did the Nomad wheels.

By wheelpros I believe. Recent chatter about people not being able to get spare parts for Nomads, product cut because it was not lucrative enough for the corporate parents. Those were really slick wheels, damnit!

Wheel Pros says it has acquired TeraFlex, a designer, manufacturer and distributor of aftermarket suspensions, shocks, and other components for automotive and off-roading enthusiasts. Wheel Pros says Mark Falkner, TeraFlex’s founder and chief financial officer (CEO), Benjamin Falkner, president, and Ian Falkner, vice president (VP) of organizational development will remain with the combined company.

Well if that chatter is accurate, that really sucks. I have the Nomad wheels. I’ve had them for about 6-7 months. Love them and TF customer service was very responsive when I had an issue.

Okay now I see that Wheelpros bought TF in April 2022. That was before I bought my Nomads and I had no problem getting service and parts.

They’re coming up short now. People were told they were being discontinued, and now it sure looks like the supply of parts is drying up. A few of us bought some spare valves, I’d suggest the same.
I’d like to try to scan the rash rings so extras could be 3D printed. That’s a project for after the holidays.

That would be cool. I would like to buy some extra bolts which attach the rash rings to the wheels. I need to contact them to see what I can do. This would really suck considering all the money we spent on those wheels.

That got me curious, since I had the parts in the garage.
Of course, those exact bolts seem hard to source. :headbang:
Looks like McMaster only has short length shoulder screws in that thread pitch.
They have a pretty close fully threaded, low profile socket head screw (drive size is 3/16 instead of 5/1) and there is no shoulder, but I don’t know how much that matters for these. The shoulder doesn’t even fit snug in the opening of the rash ring, so it’s not like the bolt shoulders index the rings at all. Teraflex instructions say 3/8”-16 x 1” length but there’s nothing 1” about it. The threaded portion is 7/8” and length under the head is 1-1/4”.
