Blinking rear diff locker light

2018 jlur 14,000 miles. Today, my rear diff locker light is blinking intermittently while driving, and the icon on the dash is lighting up. I’m in 2 high, normal pavement driving. It does turn off eventually. The Jeep is otherwise behaving normally. Has anyone else encountered this? If so, what was the problem?

From what I found in another thread, this may be a rear axle replacement or a rear diff replacement. Are those used interchangeably and the same thing?
