I didn’t need to use an extension on the Yakima. I was a little worried if the latch was going to clear the 35’s but it worked out perfect.I have the Kuat swing option. About the same as the Yakima. I used a spare tire relocation kit to give enough clearance to use the Kuat without needing a hitch extension. Sits pretty tight to the Jeep now. Pretty easy to deal with and definitely heavy duty.
My tire (295/70/17 33.3”) wouldn’t go over the Kuat but I have a Sahara so your Rubi may be a bit different on bumper height or the Kuat sits higher. I was torn between the Yakima and Kuat but I have a Kuat rack so I just went with it. Either seem to be like great solutions.I didn’t need to use an extension on the Yakima. The only thing I don’t care for about it (and it’s more the Thule rack I have) is it sticks out a LONG way behind the jeep.My tire (295/70/17 33.3”) wouldn’t go over the Kuat but I have a Sahara so your Rubi may be a bit different on bumper height or the Kuat sits higher. [edit] actually, looking at your pics, the Yakima has a lower profile. Would’ve saved myself some trouble had I gone with it.
I don't know, been too cold here to load them up.Will a bike on the back interfere with the blind spot monitor and make it beep every time you chance lanes?
