I'm researching and looking for a bike rack. I see alot of people are happy with the Quadratec 2 Bike Folding Bike Rack for a 2" inch receiver.

I'm about to pull the trigger. Also what hitch/receiver do you recommend? I just plan on using it to carry bikes.

I bought the Allen OffRoad 4 bike rack. Made to fit Jeeps with a 1 piece steel tube into the receiver. Quick to drop and lowers down far enough to clear the stock tires and tailgate door. It is a hanging rack, but I don't have super pricey bikes nor do I want to spend a grand on a really nice Kuat.

I've had the Quadratec one for a couple of years now. It works on my son's KJ and also my JL with no issues.

If you need a hitch, I'd recommend finding one on Craigslist or Marketplace. They should be $50 or less. Either the JK or JL will work. I put a used JK hitch on mine, and a used JL hitch on my wife's.

Okay cool thanks for replying and I'll go that route!

I've wondered about this, by picture they look very similar but have different part numbers by all mfg's. I really like Qtechs versa hitch on my JK and would like to install it on the JL because of attachment I've made.

Originally bought the Qtech receiver for the JK over the mopar. They looked identical and was about half the price. If your ordering from Qtech, you might want to just order from them. I think it was 2 days and it was on my porch, just time and convenience.

The four mounting bolt holes are in the same location, and the bumper is the same width, so it will physically slide up into place. Now, whether there is anything else in the way behind a JL bumper, I don't remember...it looks like the JK Versa Hitch should fit, but I'm not positive. I have an OEM JK hitch on my JL that fit perfectly. In fact, I think the sleeve is shorter so it's a bit more hidden than the JL version.

Grabbed the Quadratec last week and we love it. Steady on the HWY at 70mph with minimal movement. Highly recommend

Good to know.
If you look on Qtechs site they pretty much have most of the mfg's listed. JK's and JL's have different part numbers. Wonder what is different? Different gauge, thicker/thinner? Or maybe as simple as a DOT stamp? Not doubting you, just wonder why no interchange.

On my original, think it was about $70. Came with a 4 pin harness (plug and play with weather pack plugs) and rubber "Jeep" cap. Couldn't beat it. ... and probably took a whole 10 minutes to install, super easy!

I'd prefer to pay the extra money so I am able to open my gate all the way with the 4 bikes still attached in the carrier.
Did you happen to find this? I've got a JULR with the Extreme Recon package so 35" and would love to find a rack that would work. Was even looking to see if I can do a drop hitch with swing away but reverse the swing to the left instead of the right. That doesn't seem to be a thing. Any advice would be awesome.

This one looks to be the most robust I have found so far, it’s pricey though. It can be used to swing either way.
